I agree with everything you have said, Gary. But might I add that if you are worried about driving (and some people are!) then don't be. I used to be terrified of driving in the USA but once I HAD to do it I truly loved it....mind you, I still go to jelly if my husband is sitting next to me, but that has nothing to do with driving on the wrong side of the road (know the feeling, eh, girls?[msnwink]:D).

Not quite sure how to interpret that remark Ellie![msnwink]
The Renaissance charges $15 a day for parking so that comes to $315 for your entire stay - ouch!!!
I don't know if it's possible but it does say on their website that all Guests driving hybrid cars receive complimentary valet parking. Also it looks like Hertz are on site you may be able to see if they have a parking garage for their own cars?
Looked on the Hertz website and they do offer hybrids so would guess other car hire may do as well. You would maybe have to specify when hiring that it must be (unless of course the difference in rental price makes it dearer than paying the parkind).
As all have said, if you want to see orlando and a whole and not just idrive, then you need a car. It is not daunting at all. I've always hired a car and wouldn't do without one.
The Renaissance offer 'complimentary valet parking for guests driving hybrid cars' so you should be okay with the right company. I would suggest you phone the Renaissance and make some enquiries.

Again, thank you for valuable comments, $315 that's gonna hurt, must do some homework on hybrids, maybe a silly question ( first time visitor) but can't you park on street anywhere??

They won't have their own garage as most of the hotels that rent cars just have a desk and the cars are delivered to the location. It's often the case that the range of cars is limited doing that.
The Hybrid option looks a good one if you're saving on parking at those rates. I use Hertz whenever I can these days and they definitely do the Prius which would fit the bill perfectly.
