Or what about the other part, South International drive? The bit from the 536 down to the 192? The big plush hotel that's down that way does very nice meals. (senior moment here, cannot remember the name of the place)

Did you mean Gaylord Palms? Yes, it is a very plush place. They have the famous Ice Sculptures and are also well known for good Christmas and NYE specials.

We prefer the 192 too, I-Drive isn't quite as good as it used to be.[msnsmile2]

the drive has taken has gone down a bit , but is a better location if you want to leave the car and have a stroll or go for a drink etc. when we've been on the 192 everything seems so distant for want of a better word, easier for Disney tho'

192 every time for me, it may be busy but International drive is so congested it's just a nightmare.
-
I prefer the 192 as its well spread out and even though the roads get busy, its still at least 3 lanes in each direction.
-
I'd put more thought into the car I drive than the road I'm on!
-
we feel that the 192 just beats I Drive as it is closer to all attractions especially Disney (world Drive) [8] On a negative note I think with all the road works on the 192 from Marker 9 up pasted walmart is a real turn off but as soon as that as finished it will be the king;[beer]

I drive is very like blackpool i was let down alot by it....so much hype about it.....
we stayed on 192 and we liked it very much...much closer to disney parks:D

Both ID and 192 offer so much choice!!
No one could really give you a good answer!!
Unless you are not driving, I would visit them both when you are there.

While it is true that I-Drive is beginning to look a bit tacky taken as a whole, there are still places there which are more than worth a visit. For a start, the entir Pointe Orlando entertainment complex with its shops, cinemas, restaurants and nightlife is on I-Drive. The Two Belz malls are beginning to show signs of revival after a slump in recent years, while Festival Bay is worth at least one look. Restaurants like Bahama Breeze and Ming Court come in the 'excellent' category, while I-drive attractions like Wonder Works, Ripley's Believe it or Not, Skull Kingdom, Magical Midway etc still draw crowds.
