Does anyone know how the EMH works in the evenings? Does the park close and then re-open?
I know from going to Disneyland Paris that the only way to get a screaming child to leave the park is to show them that all the rides have stopped and it's not physically possible to go on them anymore. It's going to be very unfair to children who won't understand why some special people with a wristband are allowed on but they are not. I'll definitely be avoiding the EMH evening parks.
If it's controlled by wristband, it will be open to abuse anyway with people selling wristbands to non-residents. I think this will cause a lot of bad feeling and will have to be discontinued - unless they shoo everyone out the park and then re-admit hotel residents.

As far as I understand, EMH only means that the Disney resort guests will be let into the parks an hour earlier than the rest. Being aware of this, they prefer those days and tend to queue up for the popular rides and use up the FPs faster. Apart from that, it is like any other day.

The Disney website says that EMH has now been extended to the evenings when resort guests get three (!!) extra hours in the parks. Does anyone know how this works in practice?

Which parks open early for Extra Magic Hour on which days in 2005?
As part of the new "Magic Your Way" plan, beginning January 2, Walt Disney World Resort will be modifying the Extra Magic Hour schedule to include both Morning and Evening "Extra" Hours. Each day one of the Disney Theme Parks opens an hour early or stays open up to an extra three hours, so Guests of Disney Resorts have the opportunity to get extra time in the parks.
Sunday (Evening) - Disney-MGM Studios
Monday (Morning) - Epcot
Tuesday (Morning) - Disney-MGM Studios
Tuesday (Evening) - Animal Kingdom
Wednesday (Evening) - Magic Kingdom
Thursday (Evening) - Epcot
Friday (Morning) - Magic Kingdom
Saturday (Morning) - Animal Kingdom
How long is the Extra Magic Hour?
Extra Magic Hours are usually one hour in the morning and 3 hours in the evening.

EXTRA MAGIC HOURS -- EFFECTIVE JANUARY 2, 2005
Disney Resort Guests (including the Swan, Dolphin & Hilton at Lake Buena Vista) may enter a specific theme park one hour prior to scheduled opening for Morning Extra Magic Hours. Evening Extra Magic Hours will be available for Resorts Guests at a specific theme park for up to three hours after scheduled park closing and should obtain a wristband at the turnstile or at specified locations in the park no sooner than two hours prior the normal park closing. The schedule for Extra Magic Hours is as follows:
