The Bear
Many years ago, a well known National Geographic photographer got lost while on a project in wilderness. Wandering aimlessly, he gradually became aware that he was being stalked by a bear. Unarmed and in unfamiliar terriory, he only had an old-fashioned Compass to help his escape. Not really knowing what to do, he went West for 5 miles, then turned North for 5 miles and finally East for 5 further miles. Then, to his consternation, he found himself at the same spot where he had started on his 'escape' route.
So what was the colour of the bear?

Was it white because he was at the North Pole Nostromo? Just a guess because of the thought of magnetic influences of the pole coming back to mind from distant science lesson days but I never enjoyed them enough to take too much notice.

Excellent. In the North Pole, magnetic influences would mean following the compass in 3 (rather than 4) perpendicular directions for the same distance will get you back on the same spot. So the bear WAS white.:)

A man in a silver sports car parks outside a hotel painted red, and as a result of so doing became bankrupt. Y?

The car was really made out of silver, derived from all the man's life savings. While he was inside the hotel, the car got stolen and with it went all his wealth?

I'm with Ray and Sarah on this one;)

Me too, I bet the hotel was in/on Mayfair.
