Enhanced Roadside Assistance

I have just received an email re my upcomming rental, offering me the "Enhanced Roadside Assistance" at $2.50 per day. However it says that the maximum you can claim is $500 per rental. This means that if you have a rental for 1 week it would cost you $17.50 if you have a rental for 6 weeks it would cost you $105 but the amount you can claim back is the same! I don't know how much towing after an accident would cost or how much a windshield costs, would $500 cover this do you think. I know some friends who took out the roadside assistance had a puncture but decided it would be quicker to put the spare on themselves than wait around for assistance. They then took the car to Alamo at Disney Alamo dropped them of at Disney Marketplace picked them up at a prearranged time, the car had a new tyre and they were ready to go, very good service - no charge.

It's unlikely you would have a single incident over $500, and hopefully even in 6 weeks you would be unlikely to have 2 problems. The $500 limit is more to prevent 'daft' problems like the same person leaving the ignition on multiple times during a trip and calling out so many time due to their own fault. In reality a claim for more than $500 would be honoured. If you are staying 6 weeks and want to ensure the coverage is more than $500, then place say 3 * 2 week ERA orders so every 2 weeks it starts again with a new $500 limit. If you have a flat tire and change the wheel yourself then you have avoided a roadside assistance call, so you can then just go and swap the car at a local depot. Alamo will then use their discretion as to whether to charge for the tire.
