Girls Allowed...lazy days becoming a habit!
I woke early this morning, 6am,[msneek] goodness only knows why? I read for a while, answered e mails and browsed the OV forum whilst still in bed, not something I could do if David was with me as he always wants to get up as soon as we wake, doesn’t believe in wasting the day.
I got up and showered, then pottered around, not wanting to wake Helen. I tidied up my bedroom as it was beginning to resemble my room at home! I even did some ironing in readiness for packing tomorrow.[msnsad]
I had just put the kettle on around 8.30 when Helen emerged. I left her to get dressed whilst I popped down to Publix for some fresh fruit for breakfast. Why do I find things like that so appealing for breakfast when at home, all I want is stodge!!
A guy with his roof down came and parked close to me and offloaded his passengers in to the store, he was still parked there when I came back and got full view of my , “getting in to the wrong side of the car episode”[msnembarrased] I know we all do it at some time but you feel so stupid when people are watching, and even more so when you start talking to yourself about it!!.[stupid2]
We set the lanai table when I got back so that I could take some pictures, It looked really appealing and I was glad we got to eat the picture afterwards.[msnwink] We had so much fruit I decided to put it all in a large bowl in the fridge and as I lifted the bowl down I realized there was something inside it ……… nothing nasty before you get worried, but the small ceramic bowl that usually holds tea coffee and sugar sachets for guests, the one we had replaced earlier in the holiday because we thought it was broken!![msnscared] It was far prettier than it’s replacement and more in keeping with our decor so we swapped them round!
Outside on the deck I finished my book, Danielle Steele “A Good Woman” I’ve never been a fan of her books and haven’t read anything by her for possibly 20 years but Helen finished it and passed it over to me, I was pleasantly surprised it was a good holiday read which I added to our cupboard of books for guests to read……..note to self, sort out book cupboard next trip as some of these have been here a while and there are some duplicates. Next trips list already reads, hanger for iron and ironing board, new reel for hose, sort out book cup board and get carpets cleaned. We have spot cleaned them this time and they are looking good but after a summer of guests they will need the full monty![msnwink]
At lunchtime I “resuscitated” the paninis from the previous evenings meal as we had both only managed half of them. This involved investigating the grill, after 6 years in this house it was Virgin territory for me as I have only ever used the hob[msnoo] but it worked and I manage a very respectable lunch of paninis and salad.
This evening we were going out with friends. We popped in to the gas station for a quick “splash and dash” just to tide us over the last couple of days. When I came here alone on my last trip I couldn’t work out how to open the petrol cap and had to drive away hugely embarrassed[msnembarrased], so this time I had it sussed in advance.
We collected our friends from their home and went off to The Olive Garden on the 192. It seemed busy and we were told 30 -35 min wait but in actuality it was probably little more than 20 mins. The food there never disappoints , I adore the garlic breadsticks with marinara sauce for dipping and my grilled shrimp caprese was delicious with just enough left over for tomorrows lunch.[msntongue]
We had a lovely evening chatting about their life in Florida[msncool] and ours back in the UK,( there isn't an emoticon for rain and I don't want to put unhappy as on the whole I am happy with my life here in the UK) kids, grand kids and all manner of gossip. After coffee back at theirs we were off home to bed, tomorrow will be our last full day![msncry]
