Miles Plus Money
I was looking at using some airmiles and splitting it over the 4 flights with Virgin.
Suddenly the flights I was looking at have dissapeared is this normal???
Was looking at Mid October but nothing available now in October or November
Anyone shed any light or know when any further will get released???

There are only so many miles plus money seats on each flight. It sounds like these have sold out. I would call them as in the past I have had more success on the phone with them than trying to book online.
You are looking at school holiday time too and they can be like gold dust. I have tried to get Miles + Money flights the past 3 years in August and never managed. I have called on the very same day the flights we realeased to be told there were none left. I honestly don't even think there are any on flights they know they are going to sell out at sky high prices anyway.
I have fallen out with Virgin big time over this. We have amassed over 50,000 and just can't use them as we have kids in high school and will not take them out during term time. We have 2 of their credit cards which I now refuse to use and haven't taken a flight with them for over 2 years in school time.
Waste of time if you have kids in school is my opinion.

They are released every now and again and its a case of checking 3 or 4 times every day. I know its been virtually impossible for this August but they have been available in past years as my wife was a deputy head and we use reward flights every year.

Well it's back to the drawing board now for me then!!!

We have used miles + money last November and i see where your coming from Anthony!
I have just assumed that Virgin only release miles + Money seats when they have difficulty filling up the planes!! which will mainly be off peak times like November etc.
Keep your fingers crossed and keep trying [msnwink]
Mark.

We have booked miles plus money for November 5th onwards,we would have preferred slightly earlier but as you say no flights available, still as long as we get there, early november last year was great, no rain, low 80's ideal for us.

The miles + money option gives you very little benefit in terms of saving, would you not be better booking 1 all miles reward ticket (40k miles i think) and then pay normally for the other 3. You may find that this saves you more money and there may be more opportunity to find a single reward seat.

I think that all depends. I have used M+M for my son and his girlfriend on the 11-25 June took the price from £420 down to £332.

Is this with or without tax's and fees? - I make this a total saving of £352 vs a single ticket saving of £420? (depending on the tax etc arrangements) And of course you don't get to claim new miles on 4 flights instead of 1.
