My wife is crazy about steam trains and was hoping to go on the Mount Dora railway on our next visit ot Orlando in April-May 2004. I heard that it closed last year, but does anyone know if there are plans to reopen it? It will be a nice surprise for our Wedding Anniversary, which we will be celebrating in Orlando this time.

I've been trying to get some info on the topic and I'm wondering if the steam train has been confused with another service.
The steam train only used to go to Tavares about 8 miles away.
When we were there last Feb (2003) Friendly's restaurants were filming a commercial there and the train was in use then (for the commercial).
Haven't managed to find out if it has stopped running since then.

The steam engine has been returned to Arkansas and is not operating.
The Dora Doodlebug operates 7 days a week and runs some trips to Tavares and other trips on our east bound track.
We hope to have a steam engine back by Ocotber 2004.
