Alamo!!
This time we hired our car with Alamo. We have for many years always used Dollar. We decided to try Alamo this time purely because it was slightly cheaper as this visit was a long one.
I have to admit after booking,I was anxious that I may have made the wrong decision.and should have stayed with Dollar. No particular reason a case of the devil you know is better than the one you don't.
All I can say is we are extremely pleased with the service we received. Due to the length of our visit we had to take the car back and exchange for another. Due to this visit being a hectic holiday we totally forgot about the change over day until the day after. When I contacted Alamo to explain they told us not to worry. When we did take the car back they said it wasn't a problem.
Which we thought was a very nice gesture because in effect we had defaulted on the first agreement.
I will definitely use Alamo again.

Glad to hear that you had a good experience Barbara. We are using Alamo for the first time next month after always using Dollar and must admit that we too felt nervous after booking so you have reassured us! Thanks!! [msnsmile]

We used Alamo for the first time last November, Usually Dollar but Alamo were cheaper that time.(booked through this site of course)
Like Barbara we were concerned - devil you know etc.
We decided we did not like Alamo. This was at MCO. Alamo is on the first floor; no one around to talk to; you have to choose a car, only one in the lot - long time at the rental desk (miss the dollar express); having gone through those loops then we had to queue to get out and present the docs again when we drove off;
Its a personal thing I suppose, but we will go back to Dollar next time.

How long did you stay for and why did you have to change cars.

Karl,
We are still here in Florida, the reason we had to change.cars. The car hire terms are for 56 days any longer time than this, you must take your car back and replace it with the same or a similar model.

Thank you. We are going for 31 days and have not heard about this happening before. I suppose we wouldnt as 31 days will be the longest we have ever stayed.

We like Alamo and the fact you can choose your car when you get there. For me (the male) it's like a kid in a candy store!! - Always plenty to choose from!
When we were out there last year getting married, we had our heart set on two Chrysler 300's as our wedding cars. when we got to the parking lot we couldn't see any. I explained to the lady in the parking lot and she had two brought round from the "Budget" car lot as they are part of the same group! I was that impressed I kissed her on the cheek![msnsmile2]
Happy days!

I am off to Atlanta in March. The last time I used Alamo for a convertible (several years ago) I was given a Mustang but on their website it shows a Sebring as what give now. I have not driven a sebring anyone have any experience of them. Is there a chance Alamo still carry Mustangs also?

The Sebring convertible is really lovely to drive - we preferred it to the Mustang - especially as we had our son with us and there is a least a little legroom in the back of the Sebring, whereas the mustang meant chopping the legs off the children to fit them in[msnwink]
