We will be flying into Orlando International, but the rest of our party are travelling to Sanford and will be picking up the car. Not sure but would it be feasible for them to drive from Sanford to Orlando International (not sure if its a bit out of the way.
Is there any transport available that we can get from Orlando to the Kissimmee area Bus/taxi) or would we be better off hiring a car for one day?
If whoever is picking up the car at Sanford uses the 417 South, this goes past Orlando International Airport. Depends on the timings really.
As Blott says it is very easy to call in International on your way from Sanford, plenty of pick up points as well and very well signposted.

It should be easier and cheaper for your friends to pick you up at MCO rather than arrange a taxi, provided there is sufficient room in the vehicle for you and the luggage.
I would hire another car for one day. If there are any flight delays, there is no point in either group waiting for the other without necessarily knowing where they are.
Or get a taxi service to pick you up -
we have done this before. WE flew to Sanford, they flew to International
Our friends got a coffee at International and waited for us. We took the 417 south and arrived to pick them up - around 35 mins from Sanford from memory.
