Today was to be our first day at EPCOT and I was really excited as I had such great memories of this park from our trip 17 years ago.
We were all up at 6.30 probably because we'd had such an early night the night before. We were ready to leave at 8 but then my Mum called. My Dad hasn't been well and has been undergoing some pretty nasty treatment which has left him very weak. I was feeling bad for my Mum as she's had a lot to put up with recently. It didn't help that both my sister and I were away on holiday at the same time. She could really do with a holiday and the more I see in Orlando, the more I know she'd she so enjoy the place. It's also been a good few months since I've seen her so all in all I was feeling a bit melancholy.
We had a quick chat with a promise of a longer natter over the weekend and we were out of the house at 8.15. Another quick journey and we were parked in Journey 1-5 and at the gates at 8.30. The skies were grey and the weather report this morning didn't hold out much promise for the day but it wasn't going to dampen our spirits or our holiday.

When they let us through the turnstiles, DH and the kids went off to get a locker for the picnic and I went to get fastpasses for Soarin'. I met up with them outside Test Track and we walked straight in without any wait. What a great ride this is and I really wanted to turn around and do it again immediately but I knew there were so many other things that had to be done first.

We now headed back over the other side of the park to try and catch the first Crush show. I was exhausted already because I'd rushed over to Soarin' and rushed back to Test Track thinking that there would be huge queues and now we'd rushed back over the other side again for Crush!
Unfortunately we didn't get into the first show but we decided to wait for the next one. I needed a bit of a rest and it was a good place to wait. We all loved this show and "awesome dude" became our catchphrase for the rest of the holiday! People must have thought that we were really cheeky or stupid when we heard Americans say it for real afterwards and we'd fall about laughing!
We then spent some time watching the dolphins and looking around the rest of Living Seas.

We then headed over to The Land and saw Circle of Life and then got fastpasses for Living with the Land. It was now time for Soarin' and I was glad we had fastpasses. The line was already well over an hour and it was a pleasure to walk all the way up to the front.
Unfortunately we were in the 3rd row and we were aware of people's feet to begin with but we were totally engrossed by the sights and smells of the ride that we soon didn't pay any attention to it. It's a lovely ride. The smell of the oranges and pine trees reminded me of our back garden in Israel which has both pine trees and oranges.
We then rode Living with the Land which was very interesting and I loved some of the unusual fruits and vegetables in the greenhouses.
