Happy Independence Day!
Woke at 6.15 and I got up and made a cup of tea. Sat outside with my feet in the water watching some beautiful hot air balloons overhead and reading my book. How am I ever going to go back to real life after this? Suddenly there was a small black snake beside me in the water and I was out of there like a shot!
DH got up at 7 and went for a run while I watched some Wimbledon. Although we had plans for the day we were in no rush to get anywhere and I let the kids sleep until they woke at 9. In the meantime I caught up with the laundry, trip notes and put a packed lunch together.
After showering, dressing and breakfast we left the house at 10 and made our way to Wet n Wild. The I4 was surprisingly empty. I was expecting a lot of traffic as there would have been on the roads in Israel on Independence Day. I found out later though that nothing really gets going anywhere until later in the day and into the evening. In Israel the barbecues are already steaming away at 8am goodness knows what they cook on them so early in the morning urghh!
After hiring a couple of rings, we found a nice quiet spot by the Lazy River, away from the masses and under a huge umbrella. It certainly came in useful for the midday downpour.
Within 5 mins DD and DS2 were off and we didn't see them for a while. It was probably just as well that I didn't know where they were as they did Bomb Bay, Der Stuka and Blue Niagara one after the other.
In the meantime DH, DS1 and I were content to take it in turns and lie back on the rings in the Lazy River. DH was a little nervous as he remembered losing his glasses 17 years ago in the same place (? I don't know your guess is as good as mine!). He did actually get them back. They came through the filter but were completely scratched! Fortunately no such problems this time but just to be on the safe side he'd brought an old pair and wore them whenever he went to any wild rides such as the Lazy River!!
When DD and DS2 got back, DD stayed with the bags while the rest of us went off to do The Surge. We had quite a long wait but it was nice queuing so high up and seeing the views. We really enjoyed this ride and would have done it again had it not been such a long queue.
On the way back DS1 fell and s[bad language filtered out]ed all along his arm, which put him in a bad mood for the rest of the day. Well if it hadn't of been that it would surely have been something else! He did actually cheer up a bit later in the day but it was a struggle!
It was a really nice leisurely day and after lunch we spent more time chilling out on the Lazy River.
DH and I decided to have a bit of time to ourselves and left the kids while we went off to the The Flyer, which we did twice without any queues. We then jumped around in the waves in Surf Lagoon where DD and DS2 joined us.
DD and DS2 went off again to explore and ride some of the biggies while DH and I went back to the Lazy River. DS1 spent most of his time with the bags nursing his wound and reading.
Eventually about 4.30 we decided to move over to the other side of the park so that we could all ride some of the other rides. On the way DH, DD and DS2 rode Bubba Tub and then we all took turns at riding The Flyer, The Blast and Mach 5. The queues by this time were really short and we were able to ride over and over again. DS1 joined us and actually lightened up a bit and started to enjoy himself.
We finally changed and left the park at 7.30.
At this point the plan had been to go to Celebration for the lake event and evening fireworks. Unfortu
