Notification
Hi there, I wonder if peeps could shed some light on my dilemma, I’m travelling out this July for the first time outside a ‘package’ I’ve booked a villa and charter flights through this site.
The point is, I have been lead to believe that, as an independent traveller, I am obliged to contact the airline prior to travelling to confirm that we will, indeed, be taking up the seats as booked; failure to do so may result in the seats being sold from under us at the last minute!
Any thoughts?......is my leg being yanked?
If not, has anyone got an idea as to who/when/where/what I contact? I’m flying from Manchester to Sanford
As you will imagine, I don’t wanna mess this up!!

There has long been conflicting advice on whether you need to confirm your flights both on outward and return trips . We did on our very first time around 97 ut have since been told by the airline (Virgin) it wasn't necessary.
If the airline you are travelling with has an online checkin in then they will know.
Incidentally even if you do everything to cover yourself, ie confirm flight , check in online there will always be the possibility of you arriving at the airport to find yourself "bumped" from the flight becasue of the ridiculous policy the airlines are allowed to operate which means they can sell more tickets than there are seats on the plane to allow for "no-shows". It doesn't happen very often but can and does and especially if operational delays for weather or tech problems have meant they have a backlog of passengers to transport.

we havent , but now i wouldnt take any chances, after all its just a phone call!
mind you i have tried to get better seats due to a knee problem,

Hi Kenneth
If i were you i would just make the call to make the conformation but i do not foresee any problems, we have flown more than a dozen times in the last year and not confirmed our seats (but just to be on the safe side i would)
Have a great time[8D]

Even though some airlines advise that it is not necessary to confirm, I still do anyway. It gives me peace of mind if nothing else.

I also travel quite a bit on business. I always call the airline to confirm and some airlines say its not necessary. However when I call I do take the oppotunity to confirm that I have the seats I want and that we are all sat together. It only takes a couple of minutes and gives you peace of mind. I call a day ot two before I fly

We've never had to do this to be honest.
But I suppose that this is nothing new these days!
Better to be safe than sorry!
