I'm staying at Port Orleans Riverside in November and am seriously considering not hiring a car.
I have not used this service, but it sounds OK we have stayed at Port Orleans twice, once for 2 weeks and no car and then 5 days no car but we picked one up then to drive to villa, it is OK staying in Disney without the car if you don't want to go further afield, but if you intend to do this its more difficult getting off Disney very faffy, we have just had friends do two weeks there and they were fed up at the end of the taxis etc to get out and about.
When we stayed for two weeks we knew we wern,t doing anything other than Disney, hope this helps a bit.
The Magical Express service is under attack from the limo, cab, and bus operators at MCO. The freeters with the Mickey gloves are being ousted and only folks with pre bookings are being allowed to use the Magical Express service.
See story in todays Senitnel.

Interesting article. I can see how the cab and limo services are unhappy and agree that the DME shouldn't be allowed preferential treatment.
However from the consumer side there are going to be a lot of people using it as the fare from the airport to Disney and back isn't cheap especially for a couple where there is less ways to split the cost! I'd love to get Quicksilver transfers but the holiday is already stretching my pocket to the limit [:O]
When I was there in May, I had a giggle with the rep at the Dollar rental counter. The line for the Magical Express was 3 times what any car rental counter line was. I asked what was going on and she said most people don't realize you had to wait in line for it. She said on Saturdays when the airport is super busy, the line has been the WHOLE LENGTH OF THE CONCOURSE!
Dan was at the Disney Institute with work last week and the planners of the trip even admitted all the bugs weren't worked out yet.
