You will normally be fine in shorts and t-shirts in the day time, but if you pack some warmer layered clothing for the evening.
Soory don't know about the hotels in Miami,we drove though and stopped north of there at Vero Beach.

Sorry don't know of hotels in Miami. Clothes should be shorts/T shirts but as said above take a couple of woollies just in case.
Have a great time.

The weather is hit and miss in December last year it was pelting down some of the time and a Decembe 99 was 80 odd degrees. Bring a mixture of clothing to be on the safe side and definately a light coat/jacket/sweatshirt for the evenings.
Miami South Beach is quite expensive what sort of budget are you looking at?

Carol, Look for Residence Inn or Embassy Suites as these are the hotels I look for when we travel anywhere because they accommodate my family of 5 wonderfully well! I know for a fact that there are Residence Inns in Miami, but I'm just not sure about South Beach.

You will definately be able to get one catering for what you need. To give you an idea. We stayed one night in a double room in one of the Art Deco hotels and it was about $250 and that was when it was about 1.39 to the pound! It was a special ocassion so we paid it.
On a longer trip where we actually spent 10 days in South Beach we stayed in something like the Days Inn I think, it is a proper hotel not a motel type as the Inns normally are and it was cheaper but still way above the normal rate. Search the internet you are bound to find something. Amerisuites and La Quinta do suites, defintately sleep 4 possibly 5.
Miami is an excellent city, I know some people do not like it but it is alive and buzzing and soooooooooooooooo cool!

we have been 2 Decembers, the first was mild but a day or two of rain "real rain" with thunder and lightening!
the second time was 2 years later and we had up to 86' for the first week and cold very cold for the 2nd week, but they said it was freak weather, i would take a warm fleece or suchlike and t.shirts and shorts should be fine, (pack jeans and sweaty incase)[msnwink]

Apart from the fact that December-January evenings can be 'fresh' even in Orlando, you have to consider the possibility of rain. Rain is not common in winter, but if it does pour and you get wet, it can get rather cold and miserable since you don't get the quick drying of summer, especially in the evenings. Best to go prepared.

We have visited Orlando twice for Christmas, both times most of the holiday we spent in shorts and T-shirts but had a couple of colder days where we needed some warmer clothes. Christmas 2003 we sat out by the pool in our shorts and T-shirts and watched the builders on our development working in coats, hats and gloves, it was quite funny.[msnsmile2]
