carscarscars!!
Hi,
We're travelling to orlando in august for a holiday and staying in the Kissimee area (crescent lakes). The thing is, my dad is the only member of our party who can drive and if me and my girlfirend want to go and do our own thing we wont have any wheels. has anyone ever holidayed in orlando without a car? is it possible to get around and how much will all of the travel cost?? eg, from kissimee to disney or Idrive/seaworld, universal etc.?
Any help would be much apprecieted!
Thanks very much,
Alex

It will be a bit hard for a young couple to get around Orlando without a car, especially at night. During daytime, one option is to plan your itinerary in such a way so that you can ask your dad to drop you off before going on his way. If you two want to go out at night, taxi is the usual option and these could work out expensive, depending on where you are staying and going. We paid nearly $50 for a one-way trip from Pleasure island to Orange Tree villas at 2am in the morning, and that is not very far.
In I-drive, you can use the trolley that goes around, but elsewhere it will be more difficult. There are coach services to some places like Busch Gardens and I am sure those who have used it will let you know soon.
Perhaps you can try asking your dad nicely to be a part-time chaffeur and drop you occasionally, so that you minimise taxi travel. [msnwink]

Hey Nostromo
whats new...thats my second job already!
I spend most of my time listening to "its raining Dad, any chance of a lift"..."can you drop me off at..." etc
So I guess a little more on holiday will be no different.[msnwink]

Ther is free bus to Busch if you book the 5 day flexi-ticket but you still have to get the bus stop but there are quite a few so one should be near to where you are staying.

There's quite a good lynx bus service.
Here's the site
http://www.golynx.com/routes.cfm
I notice that there's a bus route that goes along Pleasant Hill Rd and Poinciana which are very close to Crescent Lakes -so with a bit of luck you might be covered.
At one time the bus service was really dire-butthey do seem to be improving the routes-the 192 now seems to be well covered.
Whether they cover the nightime areas-like the clubs in Orange Ave-I really couldn't say.
I know when my son and his girlfriend visited-my husband took them-and got up at 2am to pick them back up!
After moaning all week-they were as good as gold after a good night out-lol!
