I have just read an E-mail from Continental announcing that they will be launching a new daily diect flight to New York from May 2005.
Not a lot of help to us in Essex but probably good news for any of you who live in the Southwest.

I live in Wootton Bassett and am physically closer to Bristol than Heathrow, but the former is an awkward airport to get to and does not have Heathrow's amenities. But thanks for the info as it will be a good backup.
Good news for us in South Wales.
Handy for me depending on price, we'll see what happens.
15 minute drive as I'm that side of Bristol.
Now if we can persuade them to add a route to Orlando, I'm sorted.
Brizzle.
That would be brillant for me as i live in Plymouth and it would only be a 2hr journey instead of the normal 4hrs.

I wonder how long this will run for. We're very close to Stansted and either continental or United ran a service to the US. But this got chopped as it was un-econmical :(:(

Yes, Stansted is also our nearest airport so it's a shame that the Continental service was stopped.Looks like we will still have to keep travelling to Gatwick.:(
I've already booked to go from Bristol July next year, approx £630 each £700 per adult and £480 per child. plane is said to be a 777 and know its a little smaller than the Gatwick one, but a three hour journey, plus overnight hotel, parking and tolls on bridge. and not forgetting petrol. A gatwick flight for the same price works out more expensive. And I nearly always fall asleep in the cat on the journey back, lucky hubby drives!!!
I like flying continental now, and have frequent flyer miles, almost have elite status and can get a free upgrade 1st CLASS yippee.:D:D
Will let you all know how it is when I get back.
Bristol is our nearest airport and I wouldn't mind flying into NY and then down to Orlando if thats possible, don't really want to do another stop as well though.[msnsmile]
You can fly from Bristol with KLM to Amsterdam and then on to Orlando.
