Flights from Birmingham....FLYBLU

Looks like the new airline FLYBLU is ready for takeoff ! (finally)... as one who lives in the Midlands this can't come soon enough.

They say on their website that they will be taking bookings from December 15th for flights starting at easter. They also say they are ATOL bonded, so that should give some confidence.

Not sure I'd want to be on one of the first flights but all sounds very exciting, more so than Manchester or Gatwick !

(and no I don't work for them, I just want to fly from my local Airport!)

How old is a child?

With every other airline insisting a child be charged as an adult at 11, we believe we can make a HUGE difference to your flight plans by allowing a child to remain a child until 14! If your child has not had a 14th birthday by the day of departure (on the return sector for return journeys), you are SAFE! Junior IS able to fly on a child ticket! On return a return journey, children must be under 14 on the departure of the return flight in order to qualify for a child fare.

I'm panicing!!!

Have booked a childs ticket for my daughter with Continental. She will be 11 when traveling.

Have I made a HUGE mistake?[confused]

Virgin seats are up to and including 11 claseed as children, its when the reach the 12th birthday that they are considered adult.[msnsmile2]

Most scheduled airlines class "children" as under 12 at the time of the return flight.

this year my eldest turned 12 while we were in florida and I had bought a child ticket. No one checked on our return so I guess he was still a child. No luck now tho [msnsad]

This just got me panicking too. We fly next March 2 weeks after my daughters 11th birthday and we've booked a child ticket. We're flying with USAirways and I'm sure I did check at the time. I think its 12 with them when they become adults.

Our son turned 12 on one of our trips and it was the date of leaving the UK that counted so he was eligible for a child ticket.[msnsmile2]

I would wait until they are up and running myself, they have had too many delays so far![msnsmile]

Sure I've read it in the last day or so, if your child turns 12 before you return, you had to contact customer services.

Not sure which airline though!!

I'd be careful, as their rules tend to change periodically!!
