pickpockets
on a previous forum someone mentioned they had not heard if pickpockets were a problem in the parks. I just wonder if anyone had had the unfortunate experience of this happening to them. my mam had her bag ripped open on a crowded bus in london whilst quite unaware it was happening. Now we are extra cautious where ever we are. I tend to take anything of value with us on rides in the parks but i do think a lot of people leave things of value on the strollers when they leave the strollers outside the rides.

Never heard of it in the parks and I would imagine park security would be right onto it if it happened as there is usually one one way in or out of any parks so really to catch anyone (provided they were reported quickly).

Pickpockets ARE a problem in Euro-Disney (as elsewhere in Paris) but I've never heard of it being so in Orlando. I suppose bad lots can occur anywhere, but generally the Orlando crowd seem well above average for honesty. My wife lost her handbag with all her Credit cards and a lot of cash within an hour of our arrival in Animal Kingdom. It turned up in Lost & Found with everything intact.:)

You don't hear of much "petty crime" in the Kissimmee/ Orlando area. When my brother in law moved into his new house in a residential area , I was walking around late one evening with him looking at the half completed homes still being built. There were many with just the outer walls and no doors or garage doors. I asked him what the large boxes were stacked in the garage areas - he said "thats all the kitchen appliances ready for installation in the next week or so". I couldn't believe it ! In the UK they would have "walked" within 24 hours.

it's not funny really but years ago my mum was walking around our local market and saw something she liked, went to pay and found all she had left of her bag was the handles thanks to a ***** with a stanley knife.
We all had a laugh about it her included. I know what I'd like to see happen to people who make a living like this, but won't voice it (I don't want to show my dasrk side)[}:)]

Pickpocketing in Florida is somthing I have never heard of, I think you would be at a far greater risk, walking around our poorly policed streets her in the UK.

had just changed some travellers cheques for currency the day before, and put it in the back pocket of my shorts (i know)
was in one of the disney parks and lost! it
went to the lost and found, they hadn't handed it in but left there name and address, they lived in miami
tried various contacts even offering reward, more interested in contents than money for sentimental reasons
offering to pay the postage etc from the money but nothing came of it

Im sure there crime everywhere in the world. Florida did have its fair share a few years ago but seems to have sorted itself out now . I feel as safe in Florida as i do back home in the UK and never worry about crime.

We invested a couple of dollars on decent sized bum bags for everyone ( including children) from walmart. These carried our cameras and our cash , plus had a pocket just right for a small water bottle. Made me feel happier about my cash, although I agree its more likely to get lost than be stolen.
Also gave us somewhere to put sunglasses when we were being hurled about on rollercaosters. We were then hands free for the day , and the water bottles could be filled up at the water fountains.

I disagree with Nostrmo that pick pockets are a problem in Euro Disney, we have visited the park 8 times now, a group of 8 of us and have NEVER encountered pick pockets or any form of crime for that matter.
