I think you'll find that they always give you the worst case scenario so it could be a lot less than that timescale. One of our guests got their visa within 6 weeks.

Thanks Blott, my friend asked if he could go to the Belfast embassy and they quoted 8 weeks.

We are in the north west and it would be quicker for us to get there than London, is this recommended by anyone?

If you're talking about an E2 visa keith-jacqui, I think it has to be done in London. Janice is talking about a B2 visitors visa.

Yes we are going for the B2 visa. Well...where do I begin? Yesterday we went over to Belfast on Easyjet, its so much easier and cheaper than going down to London. We phoned the Embassy two weeks ago and were offered either, but if we went to Belfast, then we would be seen sooner. Our appointment was at 8:15am this morning at the Consulate and we arrived there 1/2 hour early, expecting to find a long queue, but there were only two people in front of us. They called us in two at a time and as we were leaving the security post, the officer there told us that we would be out within 1/2 hour! He was correct and we were leaving at 8:45am with a day to relax, before the flight back to Liverpool. They took us right in, asked why we wanted to stay over there for six months, but as we already own property out there, we also told them that we needed to get out to check on any repairs after the hurricanes. Then they fingerprinted us and told us that we would get our passports with the visa in the post within two days.
As we had an early appointment, we had to travel over the night before. We flew on Easyjet from Liverpool Airport. The flight only cost us £2.99 each way to fly to Belfast, then the same back, but then the tax was £10.50 each way!
Easyjet has an agreement with the Consulate to stamp a photocopy of your passport, also to give an accompanying letter with the phone number of the Consulate, if there are any problems.
We phoned the Irish Tourist Board, who were so helpful and recommended 3 places close to the Consulate. We chose The Old Rectory on Malone Road, which was 10 – 15 minutes walk away. If anyone is thinking of going the same route as us, then we can recommend it. The owner (Mary) is so helpful and put us at our ease about the people that have stayed there before on the same trip (no-one has been turned down) so maybe is a good luck charm.

Also the taxis were good and very clean; and drivers in shirt and tie. It only cost us £25 from the airport to there. We had been told the routes that the drivers would take us, so knew we weren’t being cheated. He also picked us back up the next day to go back to the airport; we have his number if anyone wants it? Well what more can I say, we are now just waiting on the passports being returned, then will book flights to Orlando. Just hope no more hurricanes are coming! Our house took some damage from Jeanne, got hit twice by it!

Home owners aren't allowed to respond to accommodation requests on the forum so the best thing to do is make an enquiry with each of the three site links at the top of each forum page (each site has different owners) and home owners with availability for your dates will get back to you.
