Lauderdale by the Sea is a small oceanfront town located near Ft. Lauderdale on Florida's southeast coast. For anyone asking me what it must have been like to holiday on a Florida beach in the 1950s I always suggest this little town. El Mar Street runs along the Atlantic in this town and a number of small two story hotels and motels are nestled on the ocean here. This is a beautiful stretch of golden sand - one of the nicest in Florida. Some ideas for quaint hotels in the town: A Little Inn by the Sea and Villas by the Sea. Certainly worth a side trip for anyone visiting the Disney area attractions. Numerous excellent restaurants in the area.

We stayed in Lauderdale by the Sea in April 2004. It was certainly different from Orlando[msnoo]We went there to have a change and see the sea:)We were also lokking for the Swimming Hall of fame, which we found:):DThere was a swimming Gala on so we couldn't use the outdoor 50m pool, but there were bargain swimsuit stalls, and we met some great people:):DThe place overall was very Eastbourne;)But full of Spring Breakers, accommodation was hard to come by[msneek][msneek]
