I don't particularly like going to Orlando in summer. The parks are too crowded to start with and the extended opening times are offset by longer queue waits in the heat. Although I can tolerate the heat, the regular afternoon thunderstorms really spoil my mood. After living in the UK for almost 20 years, the one thing that I do not want to be reminded of - much less experience - while on holiday is rain. Even though some people say the rain cools you off, it always succeeds in spoiling my mood for rest of the day.
the last week we have not seen much in the way of rain but it is the rainy season so you should expect....
the main diff between the rain here and the rain in the uk... its still hot not freezing cold....
C'mon Dave , You're gonna get soaked in the theme parks anyway, you might as well have a head start!! :D

The rain's part of the experience, not like UK rain at all.

After coming to the UK, I've done enough 'rainwatching' to last a lifetime. I would rather do without it on holiday.
But speaking of Thunder & Lightning, my wife and I had a grandstand experience one September evening in 1995. We had been to see the 'Devil's Tower' in Wyoming and were driving back to rejoin the highway when the mother of all storms broke loose. We found ourselves in a natural amphitheatre surrounded by mountains with multiple flashes of lightning all around and a torrential downpour. I could barely see where we were going and our car seemed to be the only vehicle on the road; just for a brief moment, I wondered if we would make it through safely. We did, but it was an unforgettable experience.
Actually, we did visit Orlando later in that same trip and had a wonderful time.

We watched a beauty of a storm come in from the ocean when we were in St Petes the year before last. The thunder and lightning struck directly over our hotel and all the guests at the hotel who were out on their balconies watching the storm, shote back inside their rooms. Our youngest son thought that the best place to be was the wardrobe until it had passed over.:D

If you want to keep an eye on the weather from back home, you can go to www.weatherbug.com with this little programme you can see the weather constantly by having the temp for you favorite place displayed in your tool bar down by the clock. It shows you the forecasts and weather radar so you can see what is in store for your trip.
You just need to put the zip code in for for favorite place.
We were over first week in July - I don't like it to be too hot and I was prepared to be miserable. In fact I was pleasantly surprised. The thunderstorms in the afternoon cleared the air and evenings became pleasant after the downpour. I had struggled to get on to US time so was up at about 5am most mornings and it was really pleasant until mid morning. Then went off and did Malls or the like. Theme Parks be there early, leave for lunch, and go back later. You just have to adapt to the circumstances.

Just got back today from Orlando.......and it's HOT!!! Mid to late 90's this last week, we had our first REAl thunderstorm the night before we flew back(Monday) at about 6:30 to 7:30. The weather channel were forecasting more storms for the next couple of weeks tho.
We were lucky as far as rain went, we never got wet at all( not much rain really) [msnsmile] But we did get a lot of cloud cover.

34741 is coming up as kissimmee airport
32830 is coming up as swan and dolphin hotel
Just so you know .......
Weatherbug is classed as a trojan by most spyware/adware programs, it runs popups and advertisements on your PC, here's a brief extract from one of the spyware sites,
Overview
WeatherBug 6.03 displays the current weather conditions from a network of school-based stations across the USA. WeatherBug is ad supported and shows banners and pop up advertisements.
The only ad free version is Weatherbug Plus which unsurprisingly you have to pay for :)
