Hi Guys Carrie here again with more q's, can anyone tell me what and where Celebration is, i saw something in a travel mag at the dentists last week tried to nick it but my dentist has eyes in his B-M.
is it somewhere worth visiting there will be me my other half and 3 kids 10 12 14.
The 14 year old is only interested in skateboarding anyway.
Thanks
Carrie
We will be staying on Hampton Lakes, i thought it was Bass lakes dont know where i got that from.
LOL
Carie
Celebration is just south of the 192. It is a "new town". Havn't yet been there but I am sure there are plenty of people here who have.
If your son is into skateboarding try the indoor skate park at Festival Place.
Happy holidays

Celebration is a small town near Kissimmee which was established by Disney a number of years ago. This year it was handed over to a local council.
It is well worth a visit. Set around a lake the main street and restaurant area are very attractive. There is a web site which Ithink may be okay for me to post. If the link is removed I can DM www.celebrationfl.com
The fountains near the lake are very popular with small children.
There are no commercial attractions so children of the ages you have may not find anything to entertain them.
Hi Carrie
Celebration is a community which was built by Disney, but Espirit when she comes on later will be able to tell you a lot more as she lives there.
At Xmas we did go a couple of days to see the lights and snowfall which were lovely. There are shops and a cinema, a couple of lakes, although we only walked along one, next March I do intend for us to go round Celebration for a few more hours as it does look excellant. although and I am sure Espirit will disagree with me but right at the start of Celebration there was a good few houses that had decorations up but we saw people going in to put more up and from what you could see into the houses there was no furniture [msnoo] (spooky) LOL
Hi Carrie,
From Hampton Lakes, if you go east along the US192 you will see the right hand turnoff to Celebration just after the World drive interchange for Disney. It's well worth a visit if you feel like chilling out after some hectic themeparking as the whole atmosphere of the place is very calm and laid back. There are some nice upmarket shops and restaurants on the main street and round the lake, which we often walk round. On another thread I was saying that in the conservation area round the back of the lake we saw some baby armadillos and other wildlife foraging for food just a couple of feet away.
A lot of the residents drive round in golf carts/smart cars and those "Segway" two wheelers!
The houses are often pastel coloured and based on colonial type designs with wooden balconies and front porch areas.
If you feel like some peace and quiet it's very different to the chaos elsewhere. It's very pretty and "quaint" in a way. Well worth a visit!.

Thanks guys it sounds idyllic, i had a look at the website(Thanks newhomebuyer) and it looks really lovely if a bit Stepford or am i being mean, i will go and see it lke the idea of the rocking chairs around the lake, ive decided i want to live in floridaDream on do you think there is any call for qualified counsellors?
He He i think i need counselling myself.
LOL
Carrie
ps how do you put those little piccies under your name?
Hi Carrie,
Get yourself a take-away coffee from Herman's, cross the road to the rocking chairs and enjoy the view across the lake. A really relaxing place. We love it[msnsmile2]

We love it for it's charm and the fact thats it's so laid back,so different to everything around it.
However as more people get to know about this hidden jem i'm afraid that will soon become a thing of the past with noisy children everywhere. Sorry all you family's but as a couple it's nice to get away from children in Florida sometimes.
Celebration is lovely and the people are real nice too I think. Head east along H192 and go past the exits to Disney and I4. It's well signposted and you turn off on the right hand side and just keep on that road until you come to Celebration. There's a large car-park in the centre of town. We saw loads of wildlife when we went. An aligator, a huge owl, turtles and lots of water birds - brilliant. Here's Don and me there just before we had to fly back last Friday [msnsad]

Carrie,
Hope you are more honest in your rented lodgings, stealing magazines! Have to send the boys round![}:)]
Hi Cruella, i am a good girl really, and would never ever take anything from the villa, i just hate my dentist and it was an old mag that i could never have got.
promise i will be good in Florida.
lol
Carrie
Just out of interest Cruella are the Boys good looking?
Celebration is my hone town and I love it,. It gets a lot of stick along the Truman Show, Pleasantville and Stepford Wives lines but actually it is quite idyllic and feels totally safe/ Small kids love jumping about in the fountain and the ice cream parlour. The older ones may be interested is some of the odd vehicles we have here such as segways and nevs. There are also lovely walks with lots of wildlife to be seen.
Esprit I am so envious of you.I love Celebration for all the reasons you've mentioned. In the early days it was a bit like the Truman show with so few people living there the same faces kept appearing everywhere you went, but now it is wonderful.
We love to walk around the lake and sit and watch the wildlife. When we took my in-laws back in 2000 they were absolutley amazed by the place, my mother in law still talks about it, she loved the rocking chairs by the lake. As you say it does feel totally safe and I think this is one of the reasons it is such a relaxing place to visit.
The houses are fabulous as well, they all have the wow factor, I would love to be able to say it was my home town.

We have a tradition now that we always eat in the Market Streeet grill on the way to the airport. I made the error of asking where we were eating on the wayto the airport this year and my hubby looked at me as if I was mad!! Never break a tradition !!!!
We love it and all my friends that I have sent there love it too. It is a great break from the hustle and bustle of the parks and other locations around.

We drive through Celebration if we miss home......it just like all the little towns we have here.....so much so.....that since Disney built Celebrations....visiters now call the Cape.....Disney without the mouse......so many people say how much like Celebrations the Cape is......and we have to keep telling them that its the other way around......LOL!

We always plan a visit and usually have a meal at one of the restaurants. I really like the idea of the last meal before flying, what a nice tradition! There is also always something going on too:

The cinema in Celebration is also very good - it's an AMC and is big with a big screen - reminds of the big cinemas that we used to have before they were divided
Drew
hope you are lucky with the weather again this year ;)
