We last visited in 1986 as a young married couple, going back in August with two teenage boys, we're soooooooooo looking forward to it!
We're renting a villa in Lake Berkely, bought all our park tickets, (from this site of course), and have a few questions that I hope someone can help with:

1. What is accepted as ID for park entry?
2. How do you prevent handstamps washing off for evening, (post shower), re-entry? We were thinking of covering with plasters.
3. We intend to have the typical American breakfast each day - which local breakfast diners are recommended?

I've done some searches on the site, but can't find anything specific.
I'm sure I'll get plenty of replies, please PM if its easier, Thank You in advance,[msnsmile2]

Hi Ian

Welcome to the forum!

Anywhere ID is required is normally something that contains your photo so a passport or UK driving licence with a photo would be good. Alternatively, anything else you have would probably be acceptable as long as it has a photo and signature on it. You shouldn't need it for theme park entry unless you want to drink alcohol, in which case it should have your date of birth on it too.

The hand stamps don't wear off, even if you wash or go in the pool with normal use.

Nearest to Lake Berkley is probably Perkins on the corner of the 192 and Poinciana Boulevard - turn left out of Lake Berkley into Oren Brown and then turn right into Poinciana Boulevard and Perkins is on the left corner at the junction with the 192.

If you want a buffet breakfast, then the next nearest is probably either Ponderosa or Sizzlers. Follow the instructions above but turn left onto the 192 from Poinciana Boulevard and they are both on the right side, before the big orange and almost opposite Kissimmee Old Town with the Sky Coaster, etc.

I think you'll find a lot of changes since your last visit somehow so have a great time!

Hi Ian and welcome to the forum.

In answer to your questions:
1. You don't need any ID that I'm aware of for Park Entry (unless of course your talking about Pleasure Island or CityWalk in which case you will need your passport for ID if your looking at drinking alcahol.
2. No need to worry on the handstamp washing off. It would take more than one wash, or a good scrubbing to get rid of it completely. Plus, you can only see the stamp with an infrared light anyway.
3. Probably best place for breakfast is a; in your villa:D, b; Denny's, c; IHOP d;you'll get another 100 replies on this one:D

Have a good one[msnmad][8D]

We only needed ID to pick up our special night tickets (Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party) and also when we purchased our Annual Passes but as people have pointed out, no ID is needed for normal park entry.

The ultra-violet stamp would take days to wear off. I'm assuming that lot's of people 'glow' under the ultra-violets in Pleasure Island if there are any :)

There is also a nice IHOP next to the Perkins on the corner of 192/Ponciana which would be my choice. I can personally vouch for it and am counting the days until my next cinnammon apple with pancakes...mmmm

Hi Kwacka!

I am sure you will get a lot of answers to your specific questions, but I would like to say that Orlando as a whole has changed a LOT in the 18 years that you went last. There is a lot to see and do now, particularly with your two teenagers. So, allow yourself plenty of time to visit places with rest days in between. You are going in one of the busiest times of the year and so need to chhose the specific days to visit specific parks. There is a very useful "Busy Day Guide" for 2004 in Simon Venness' book "A Brit's Guide to Orlando & Walt Disney World"; if you have not got it, it is a good idea to get it and flip through it in the time that you have left. You need to have some sort of itinerary to make your trip as smooth as possible. Good Luck!

PS: On the subject of breakfasts, you might want to consider a Disney Character Breakfast or two. The best of these is probably at Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort. Another good one is at Cape May Cafe in The Beach Club Resort. You can valet park your car at the resorts in both cases and go to the respectable parks (MK for Contemporary and Epcot for Beach Club) by passing a lot of the crowd. But you need to BOOK your places in advance.

For a really nice Character Breakfast on site, book yourselves at the Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom. Book weeks ahead. It gets busy.
Off site, Dennys. Cracker Barrel if there's one near by.

The only time you need ID is if you are using the Florida resident discount. For that you need a driver's license or a utility bill with your name and a Florida address on it.

Breakfast recommendation is Goldern Corral - Go out of LB onto Oren Brown then right at the 192 and a couple of miles on the left.

Hi Ian

Can I recommend Cracker Barrel for breakfast? I'm afraid I don't know where Lake Berkley villas are located but I'm pretty sure a Cracker Barrel won't be that far away. It's really lovely and the food is cooked to order and there's so much choice. It's a lot better quality than Ponderosa, waffle house etc.

If you do go, let me know what you think. I'd personally recommend the blueberry pancakes.

Just look out for all the rocking chairs outside their store. You have to walk through the old fashioned store to get into the restaurant. You won't be disappointed! Check out their website for their menu.

You will need photo I D if you visit Seaworld or Busch Gardens and take in the Budweiser Beer School, this is situated behind the Hospitality Inn, under 21s can go in with you but can not take part in the beer tasting and will not receive a certificate. we used the new british citizen photo ID card which is about £5.

Hi Ian,
We first went to Florida in 1980 and we stayed in Miami but took a few days trip to Kissimmee and spent 2 days in the Magic Kingdom. My wife spent her birthday in Disney and has never forgotten it. (Epcot was still being built) We went back around 1998 and couldn't believe how many more things there were to do and see.Not only Epcot, but MGM Studios, Animal Kingdom, Universal etc. We have been going twice a year since then. Beware! It's totally addictive .We still come back every time saying "we didn't do this or that - we'll have to put them on the to do list for next time!" and next time the same thing happens. (Love the choice of venue by the way - we have been so smitten we bought on Lake Berkley this year. You'll find it's very handy for everything and there are loads of breakfast places within a few minutes drive. We've been to the Golden Corral on the 192 lots for the lunchtime buffets - highly recommended, and about 5 mins. drive from LB)
Have a really great time.
KevinT.

Thanks to you all, I think we're going to have to try all the diners, and then decide which ones to return to!
