This one I must do Pity about the cage though!!

'The chance to swim with sharks is now on offer at Seaworld Orlando. It has introduced a special 2 hour programme at its shark encounter attraction where visitors can snorkel or scuba dive from the safety of a cage in their underwater habitat. It costs from £89 and includes 2 day park admission, T-shirt and an information booklet. Visit the website www.seaworld-orlando.com'

There isn't enough money in the world to entice me to do this !

Me neither Caroline! Does the T-shirt say 'please eat me' for educated sharks? :)

I am really keen, just not sure whether to do it in October or wait for next Easter and get sponsored for charity again. I wonder if the sharks at Sea World Orlando are bigger than those at Deep Sea World North Queensferry, I expect they are Brilliant

Ruth,
This is one thing I will not be telling my 2 kids about - they'd go mental. This will be the first year neither of them will be coming with us and they have been dying to swim with sharks for years now. What a shame they can't do it. Perhaps this will persuade them to come on holiday with their 'old parents'next year instead of their friends.

Ruth,
Where did you find this info? The link you posted wouldn't work for me and I couldn't find anything on the Seaworld website I looked at. I'm thinking of getting my own back on my 'babies' by doing this
swimming myself

I read it in yesterdays Sunday Mail in the holiday section. I am going to do it next Easter for a couple of local charities I work with. Any sponsors out there?, I will pay for the dive so all proceeds to the charities

Remember what happened to the guy at the Blue Planet!!No, do it in October and we'll come along and photograph you for the caption comp!!
BTW, please do not mention this to Terry, who has been trying for ages to get me to do anything in or under the water ( which I hate!)

I tried to book my dive but got this reply in case anyone else is interested in doing it

"Thank you for your e-mail concerning our Shark Deep Dive program. We are still in the development stage of this program and will be accepting registration after October 5, 2002. Please visit our website at www.seaworld.org or call us at 407-363-2380 after that date for further information."

Hi Martin,

I an diving for 2 charities local to us who help stray animals as they both struggle for funding and do a fantastic job. They are the Fife Cat Shelter (who neuter rehabilitate and rehome stray and unwanted cats) and Second Chance (who neuter, vaccinate rehabilitate and rehome stray dogs).

Julie and Caroline seem to be conspicuously quiet on your invitation to join them on the shark dive Ruth! I can't believe they're not actually going to do it...!

Lucky for them that it may not be up and running in October anyway so they could have said that they would do it I am planning on doing it when we are over next April so any observers welcome:)

Blott - Saw the challenge a couple of days ago - and have only just regained consiousness - Do you think I can sue Ruth for mental pain and suffering she has caused by threatening to turn me into a sharks dinner

We're going to be over in April too - I take wonderful photographs - but the camera is DEFINITELY not waterproof - and neither am I

I hope to see you watching through the tunnel then Caroline, and you can confirm to OV members that I actually did it

Ruth - NOTHING would give me greater pleasure than to watch from the tunnel - although I don't what Sandra will think of me being such a scaredy cat, after all the stick I've been giving her about not going on the "big rides"

Caroline

Ruth

I would not worry about that Caroline. I think it is myself who should be concerned about being ever so slightly insane

I notice that you can snorkel with sharks at Shark Reef at Typhoon Lagoon if you're looking for a replacement! You might still be able to persuade Caroline to go into that instead rather than disappoint her...!

Blott - Not in this lifetime ............ or the next
I don't do anything in water where I'm not able to put a foot on the bottom and breathe - unaided - at the same time

Don't like a wet fringe either

Caroline

Blott, I did that and have to say found it tame. Remember I have seen a shark while diving off the Florida Keys and I've dived with the sharks at Deep Sea World near Edinburgh and this was much more exciting
