I have had a few quotes for flights for May 2005. We are wanting to travel out on 19th May 2005 to 4th June 2005 from Manchester. I have been quoted £2000 for charter flights for two adult 2 kids aged 2 and 6 from Manchester. Cheapest schedule flight was Delta via Atlanta for £1920. We went the exact same time this year (to the day) and it only cost us £1300 with American via Boston and we booked 8 weeks before. Is it worth waiting nearer to the time. I understand prices rise but not as much as £600. Virgin wanted £2500 direct from Manchester.
Have looked at London prices for the same time and I could save myself £50 for the four of us but it would cost me that in petrol to get down to London. Has anybody else had the same experience.
I booked a couple of days ago for May 21st through 4th and it was just over £600 including car hire with Travel City Direct.
We're going with Virgin in Oct but the price hike for next year didn't warrant the difference.
BTW we were told if we fly out on the Thursday (19th) it would be £100 per person less!!
Didn't want to risk missing out on flights for the half term...
Airlines have you by the short ones when your tied to dates...

Have you tried Charter Travel, which is recommended by this site? The fare is usually reasonable and you ight have a bit of flexibility with dates if you are able to catch a LATE flight.
Also, Atlanta is one of the 3 US airports that I try to avoid unless there is no alternative. (Detroit and LA are the other two.) It is disorganised and chaotic.
Why dont you have a look at the flights links at the top of this page there are some good bargins with Virgin for next year on there.
We waited this year and prices dropped to £300 each (may 2004). I would say wait, but the companies know people are worried about not getting flights, so put prices up earlier. I bet we could have even got them cheaper if we have had tried harder.
There are so many companies that fly to orlando, you would be better waiting. as i'm sure you would be able to find something cheaper.

Hi Pieman790
We've booked our flights through the link attached to this site for May 2005 with Virgin from Gatwick and got them for £1,700 (£2,200 with 3 weeks car hire). That's for 2 adults and 2 children aged 8 and 5. They were very helpful and I would definitely recommend them.

Do you mind if i ask which dates. I can get them cheaper at the begining of the month but need to use the half term week as my second week.

Yes we are wanting to fly from Manchester. If i could save £300-400 then i would consider London.
Just had a quote from Thomas Cook direct... they have special offers on at the moment from Birmingham.... £351 each incluing meals with Britannia... if you ring them tell them it is with Thomas Cook Flights.... I was minutes away from booking until Wife told me that was SATS week fro my 6 year old !
DM me if you want the phone number.

Just got a quote flying with BMI from Manchester Via Chicago outward and Washington inbound on the above dates of £1520 (2 adults and 2 kids). Seems to be cheap compared to some prices. Cheapest Virgin flight was just over £2000.
Thanks for all the help

We flew out on May 8th from Newcastle to Sanford with Monarch and paid £350 each. We booked just 3 weeks before. 2 days before we travelled I enquired to get my son on the same flight and it was just £179!
It was just for 1 odd seat though-and the plane was pretty full-makes you think though!
We always go in May and I won't be looking for seats until nearer the date-we haven't got our October seats yet!
You will find this site hard to beat.<blockquote id="quote" class="ffs">quote:Originally posted by Essexgirl
