Try something different for 4th July!

The annual Independence Day event has seen thousands flock to the picturesque waterside park for family-oriented entertainment, and this year is no different. More than 150,000 people are expected to join in on the festivities of Central Florida's biggest Fourth of July celebration, which will also include the area's largest pyrotechnic show as well as live music performances and games for the kids.

Some get there early - before sun rises - to get the best views and to avoid the inevitable traffic nightmare that clogs the arterial roads leading in and out of the park. Festivities begin at 4PM with Hanson, Ashlee Simpson, Mis-Teeq, Kimberley Locke, Brooke Hogan, Sarah Hudson, Maria Mena and The Calling hit the stage before and after the fireworks show at 9:30PM. Special guest host Hulk Hogan will take charge of the proceedings to ensure the night remains an all-American affair.

Please note: all bags and purses are subject to search and coolers, pets and personal fireworks will not be permitted. Beverage, food and novelty booths will be set up throughout the park to cater to celebrants.

Alternatively, what about this?

The shores of Lake Eola in downtown Orlando are the place to be for the Fourth of July, with thousands crowding around the lake for a spot to picnic, play and relax all day. Go early if you want a spot, and give yourself plenty of walking time, as parking spots are precious.

Fun starts at 4PM, with vendors throughout the park -- pack a picnic or buy dinner there. Live music, including the 'Colgate Country Showdown,' activities and games for children will be held all around the lake, sponsored by the City of Orlando and Cox Radio.

The highlight of the evening is the fireworks, starting with a patriotic 21-gun salute by the Naval Ordnance Test Unit. Fireworks are scheduled to ignite at 9:30PM, a 20-minute show with special effects like golden palm trees, multi-color shells, ring patterns, colored bees, falling leaves, strobes, sparkling star-bursts and more.
