Try the phosphate mines! These are on the SR 60 not far from Lake Wales and near Bartow and look just like the moon. Fossils of mammoths and gian sharks have been found in Bone Valley and you can arrange a tour of the mines by ringing the Florida Phosphate Council on 863 686 2880.
