View Full Version : Luggage Space in 7 Seater Minivan
Could you answer me a quick question on Luggage Space in a 7 seater minivan ??
We have hired a 7 seater minivan and there will be 4 Adults & 2 Children using car seats. How many suitcases can you fit in this vehicle ???
Just wondered if we need to get a taxi to follow. How Much ?? or to hire a Economy Car for a day at £ 26.00.

I asked the same question earlier as we have hired a 7 seater, with there being 4 adults and 2 kids.
We're intending to take 4 cases and 2 holdalls and have been advised that there should be enough room in the van for this, taking into account you have a bit of extra floor space at the front passenger side and an extra seat.
Hopefully it should be ok

When we were out at Easter we were due to get a 7 seater but when it arrived we couldn't fit in our 3 very large suitcases, basically because the boot is replaced by seating. Ended up getting a 15 seater! at no extra charge. It shouldn't be a problem upgrading once you get there if you find that you don't have enough room.
We've just had one and easily fitted 4 cases, three holdalls, a stroller, the car seat and several plastic bags (plus 4 adults and a baby) in.
With the extra child seat it'll probably be a bit of squeeze, but you should be OK.
If not, depending on how far away you're staying, its probably just as cheap to leave one adult at the airport with the remaining luggage and make two trips.

This topic has been discussed many times before. The luggage space in a 7-seater minivan in NOT enough for luggage of 7 people...or 6 for that matter unless you are travelling particularly light. I doubt if people going to a holiday in Orlando travel particularly light and so you will find it a lot more convenient to spend £20 a week more and go for an 8-seater which has loads of luggage space.
Hi Rob & Carol,
I did quite a bit of research on this topic also as I have a party of 7 going over to Florida in August. Based on the advice of many people on this forum who have much more experience than I on this topic we have chosen an 8-seater minivan. All the feedback I received was exactly as Nostromo says above, that the 7-seater is just not quite up to the job as soon as you add luggage. I am reliably told that the 8-seater is just as easy to drive, reverses well, is comfortable, air-conditioned and is the ideal next size up.
Another thing I was told, which makes perfect sense, is that if you are offered an upgrade from an 8-seater to a 12-seater to decline it, as the 12-seater is basically an 8-seater but with another row of seats taking up the luggage space.
We hired a 7 seater, 4 adults 2 children - the luggage space was VERY tight - 3 cases for adults one small for the kids - wished we had done the 8 seater

Space is a bit tight in the 7 seater, we were 3 adults and 2 kids, but its only the trip to and from
the airport where it might be a bit tight. After that you have loads of room
The best bet if you can is to all take holdalls rater than suitcases as these are much easier to squeeze into tight spaces. The problem is often on the return leg. Even if you travel out light there's every chance you'll end up bringing back more 'goodies' than you went with!
Thanks for all the replys, it's given us something to think about.
We will possibly have 4 Large suitcases and 2 medium.
ChrisJ we are on Aster Cove now until 25 or 27th July. Not Long now 3 Weeks tomorrow.

We will be there on 24th July, cant wait :D
mind you looking out the window here its pouring down :(:( in good old london
We hired a 7 seater last year for 6 adults, so that meant 6 cases and 6 handluggage plus duty free of course, it was a bit of a squash but it was only to and from the airport.
