Hi Guys

I have already posted this in a different area but have had no response so I thought I would try here. Is there anyone that can advise me, pleaseeeeee.
We are thinking of stopping over here for 1 night next march as we arrive in miami on thursday and are planning a slow trip up to orlando over the next couple of days as we don't go into the villa until the sunday is there much to see and do our 2 girls love beaches so for the 3 or so days they should have plenty as we start in Miam, on to Fort and then we are thinking of a day in Melbourne before driving on to the villa, I just want a bit more for me as Im not really a beach/sunbathing type of person
Any hints and tips will be much appreciated
Thanks and KR
Sarah

Sorry can't help, except that we stayed in Miami on South Beach (big mistake) and drove up to Deerfield via Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach etc. one of the days. We had one of the best meals ever in Florida at a restaurant overlooking the beach at Deerfield (it was also happy hour which of course had nothing to do with it!).

We have been looking to do a 2 day stay while we are over next month, which reminds me I had better stop looking and start booking!

One of the daughters want a handbag that is only available from a shop down that way - I have a feeling it might be cheaper to mail it, but that's not the same as a couple of days out is it?[msnwink][msnscared]

Not been to Fort Lauderdale yet, but going for 3 nights starting 11th July will let you know what we think, what sort of things do you like, I am a shopaholic and Fort Lauderdale is supposed to have one of the biggest Malls in Florida

I've been to Fort Lauderdale a few times and I've always really enjoyed it there. I've not been in March, so I am not sure how cold the beach would be, but the beach is great and I prefer it to the west coast.

There a lot of things to do but for few things to choose from there is the Sawgrass Mills for shopping. You can take a cruise on the Jungle Queen, which goes through all the canals and for the kids there is a Museum of Discovery & Science and IMAX Theater.

I have always stayed at a hotel on the beachfront were you can get fabulous views of the sea.

What ever you choose to do I am sure you will not be disappointed.

We love Fort Lauderdale , the beach and waves are fab, good for people watching and great resturant they have a small Mall downtown but the large Mall is in land. The Mall is called Sawgrass Mills - great. or you could drive via the everglades and take the airboat trip - lots of wild life ,they also have log cabins you can stay in , very basic but clean with a resturant on site, you really hear the wild life at night !!!!

We have stayed in FLaud prior to cruise, hotels tend to be v.pricey and not that great.
Stayed at Radisson Bridge at Boca Raton last September, really nice, good restaurant overlooking intercoatal with live caribbean band, very tropical and five minutes walk to beach, would recommend this hotel and rates can reasonable for advance bookings

We did Sawgrass Mill - it is sooooo big. Gals loved it but Chris and I got fed up as it just went on and on and on ...

We were there 29 / 31 December 02 and weather was in early 70's , noticeable drop when we got up to Orlando - particularly as NYE was about the wettest in living history - all of us there can remember being rained off whatever we were doing. Had the soberist NY night EVER as gave up all attempts to get to Universal and just went to bed early.

From recollection Boca Raton is not very far.
