We are going to Florida for the first time in August:D[8D][8D] We want to take some pictures while swimming/snorkelling etc. Anyone any idea whether it is better to buy 'disposable' one-use underwater cameras here or over there? Assume they will have them at Walmart . . .[?]

TIA

Nigel

The disposable cameras in Florida cost about the same in dollars as we pay in pounds, so it's better to buy over there. Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Eckerds etc. all sell them.

Don't buy in the Parks, as they are more expensive there.

Nigel

I have just this weekend purchased 2 of these from 7-dayshop.com for a cost of £2.95 ea, beats paying £9.99 from Boots etc.

Cheers for the 7dayshop.com advice, I just bought a great supply of Duracell batteries for my camera and general use. They are very cheap.

No probs Andrea, but I really can't claim that one, I think I got the web address from one of Chrisj's previous posts, and yes I found them very competitive............thanks Chrisj

:(:(Just checked 7dayshop - current price is £6.99 for the single use, 27exp camera. They do have multi-use cameras at £8.49 though which is way better value - certainly better than the high street:)

Thanks for the tip.

Put the following in the search box
"Single Use WATERPROOF Camera 27 exp ~ SPECIAL"

its not the best thing but certainly looks as tho it will do the job, down to about 5m cost £2.95

Me too, although I went for the brand name waterproof primarily as I wanted to see what I was getting and the cheaper version didn't have a picture. Would be interested to know what they are like though. Also ordered my secure digital card, which was also good value.
Thanks for all your help.
Commission on its way.[msnwink]

Well with father's day comming up I have pointed my wife and kids in the direction of the 'specials' page and left some printed pages lying around conspicuously ;)

As for the cameras - on second look I am going for the more expensive one with the flash - which apparently makes quite a difference. It is £8.49 but can be reloaded with film and used over and over again. Worth a try.

Hi Nigel
The flash will make a great difference to your pictures in terms of colour as water absorbs colour and tends to make the photos look a bit washed out if a flash is not used. I would also tend to use a fairly fast film as this will also minimise colour loss try ISO 400. Good luck and hope the pictures come out really well.

Hi Chris - thanks for the response. Delayed reply from me due to missing the email that hit my mailbox with loads of spam :(

I will be sure to get fast film - one of the cameras I have seen is pre-loaded with ISO 800!

Cheers,
