View Full Version : WDW Parking Charges Increase
Prices increased by $1 for two categories of vehicles parking in the WDW Theme Parks, effective now:
Auto/Taxi $8 effective April 2004
Camper/RV $9 effective April 2004

This follows an increase in their ticket prices as well, next they will ask for a dontation
for the trolly buses that take you to/from the car parks. Sorry, this may be against the grain
but Disney is fastly becoming a rip off.
Wonder what would happen if Walt was still around, he built a dream, out of nothing for people
to share his dream not be ripped off.
If you read some of the many books about his 'Dream' Wow a man of true vision. Shame a few generations later its now all about making as much money as possible
I think it has been $7 for a long time so an increase was bound to happen. It makes annual passes which include parking better value:)
I don't mind paying $8 to park - I costs more than that for 1 hour in London (if you can find somewhere:() - How much is the Annual Pass now?
Its not the cost, its the principal im on about
If they want more money, they only had the tickets to put the price up. Now they can put up the
ticket, then followed by the parking a bit later. When greed takes over they might start to
charge for the buses, then they can increase all 3.
Would be intereting to compare their complaints to cost ratio, The more you charge people
either direct or in-direct the more chance you have of people making complaints, where before
they would have not bothered. I be tsome analyst at Disney has the figures and I can imagine
that with every price hike, the complaints rise
Do you think that the Disney employees don't expect their wages to rise with time? If they hadn't up the car parking then maybe the tickets would have had to rise by more. I am sure most guests would choose to pay $1 more per car than $1 more per ticket. In business you have to make a profit or you go bust. I for one would rather Disney made a profit than closed. Profit is not a dirty word, it is a fact of life:)

I have to agree--I would rather pay $1 per car more than per ticket. In the overall scheme, the extra dollar, while annoying, is just a drop in the bucket of what you end up paying per day at Disney. It cost us nearly $300 to get into MGM for one day, not to mention the food and the souveniers. So the parking charge is the least of our worries!

You are already paying extra for tickets, they put the price up the other month, now another
increase on the parking, so you are paying for 2 increases. As you say look at how much they
charge you for a $2 bottle of coke, I said this might go against the grain.
Anyhow, I think its getting to be a rip off, and not being run how Walt's original vision, but
at the end of the day if im right, and they have it wrong, then time will show as they will
see a slide in customers. They got it wrong with Euro Disney and even the far east.
Anyway, at the end of the day, its a lovely place to visit
When we were there in April Universal & Seaworld were already charging $8 for parking. We were surprised that Disney were cheaper.
It was $6 when we first went in 1994 to Disney and it's been $7 for ages so it's hardly a mega increase and they could have built an entire new park on the space the car parks take up! Hey, now there's an idea... [8D]
Mind you if you think about it, what sort of park could it be. Now there is a thread in its
own right
I'm with Chrisj on this one.
I think we discussed it on another thread (http://www.orlando-guide.info/forums/topic.asp?topic_id=9349) about Universal increasing their prices by $1. It doesn't sound much, but it is a 14% increase on top of the annual hike in general admission.
I doubt that any individual Disney employee has received a 14% pay rise (apart from those who probably dont need it )!!
Thanks Mike and Sue
As I said it might go against the grain, but at the end of the day the rise will more
than likely go to feed the bonus of the board, in the UK we call them fat cats
I doubt much if any will go to the workers

I agree with Ruth. Disney is not a charity it is a business at least when you park your car it is going to be there when you return. who counts dollars when you are on holiday? You could always avoid going!!!
