The auto opening doors on the sides of the Dodge caravans are a real pain in the neck......:(

Does anyone else think so too.......[?][?]

I know the auto opening doors have been available on the better models of the Dodge Caravan for some time, but have never had them on a hire car - is this new

I have had this feature on my Pontiac Montana for 5 years...my old Dodge Caravan didn't have it...it is an absolute must for a parent busing children from activity to activity. I did have trouble with mine initially...had to have the mechanism that closes the door replaced a couple of times, but I am really happy with it now, and could never live without it again! I've gotten spoiled!

It drove me and my daughter insane for 4 weeks.....maybe that was because we were the ones sitting in the back....maybe mums and dads driving find it more useful......but its sometime I'd not have.....

I have a Ford Windstar and the automatic doors made life much easier as my youngest was only 2 when we got it over 4 years ago. We have not had any trouble with them at all. I had nothing but trouble when I had a Dodge Caravan which had multiple engine troubles and we got rid of it after 2 years. I plan on keeping the Windstar for another 3 years.

How do the doors work when you only have 6 inches between cars?
Or is that only the car parks in the UK...;)

Floirda car park spaces are designed for the larger car so you will have no problems at all. I drive a Voyager in the UK and it drives (sorry!) me mad in some car parks as there just is not the room to park properly.

[They open by sliding down the side of the car on runners making it a lot easier to get it/quote]

I love this car, I own one in the Uk and always hire one in the US, its the best and most comfortable car I have ever had, and fantastic with children!

Dodge Grand Caravan is a fine vehicle with 7 seats, but with very little luggage space. So, while it is ideal for 6 or 7 people to commute about town and visit elsewhere, you simply cannot load much luggage into it at the airport and back. We have had major problems in the past trying to fit 5 peoples' bags into a DGC. So its convenience depends on the size of your party.

We have 2 large cases, the kids take their own small ones and of course hand luggage, there are 3 adults
and 2 kids, we found we could get 2 large and one case in the boot/trunk area, the reast inside. It was
only for the trip from the airport and back and so the space was fine for us
