Has anyone been here? Paul and the boys have decided to spend the 1st day of their holiday here as our villa is booked by someone else.
Suggetions of what to do, where to eat etc would be appreciated.

We've only been there for a day at the beach, a couple of times.

I'm sure there are lots of things to do, it's just I've not seen them! Although, there doesn't seem to be a vast amount to do if you're not on the beach.

The obvious thing is, you can always do the Kennedy Space Centre - that's virtually next door and Ron Jon's Surf Shop should also entertain you for an hour or so.

Sorry I can't help you more!

Why not stay at Daytona - it's not that much further than Cocoa Beach. We had 3 days there while guests were in and htoroughly enjoyed it.

He looked on the map and decided the drive to cocoa beach looked slightly easier as he hasn't got his navigator who is really trustworthy.

At the moment he's booked a room at Days Inn on the beach but can cancel it if someone knows a better cheap place.

I would skip Cocoa if you're spending time at the beach. Much more to do in Daytona. Also try Clearwater on the gulf side - nicer beaches there, warmer water etc

Great sandy beach, Ron Jons surf shop, basic restaurants handy on the pier.
Mostly people stay there for quiet beach holiday or a local base to visit Kennedy Space Centre or the port for cruise ships. Cocoa Village for what the Americans call historic shopping was plesent for a couple of hours. [website link edited]

We love Cocoa Beach, but agree the Pier could do with a lick of paint, were not going to
visit this year, instead were going to Melbourne beach. Last time we went there was 1989
so imagine its changed a bit

my boys love cocoa beach, great waves for the beginner surfer. Also a great bar and terrace overlooking the beach - can't remember what it is called but will definitely be there in July to listen to the band while having a meal and a drink[8D]

Haven't been to CoCoa Beach in a couple of years, but mainly went there because we were going to Kennedy, and HAD to go to see RON JON'S Surf shop!!! To be fair, if you are a first time Florida Holiday maker it was always one of the places to go on your Checklist!!! I loved RonJon's the first time but see there is a smaller version at Festival Bay near International Drive now.Great if you just want to say you have been to RonJons without doing the trip to CoCoa:D, but not quite as spectacular! Agree that as a beach CoCoa I did find a bit tacky personally!

I wouldn't bother to go to Cocoa Beach personally went there a few years ago nothing to do really apart from (as everybody else has said) the beach and Ron Jons Surf Shop. Daytona Beach is great though and even better Clearwater Beach - neither are difficult to find.

I got married on Cocoa Beach - it was lovely! I agree it's not "action packed" but sometimes it's nice to get away from the action.

We really liked Cocoa beach as a "day off" from the parks!!...yes there's not alot to do but that suited us.

We took a picnic and enjoyed the "space" of not having someone right next to you sunbathing as you do on alot of European beaches!!

It was also a great place to view a shuttle going up from the Kennedy Space Center!!!!!.[msnsmile2]...

There is not alot to do in Cocoa beach. We stayed at the Holiday Inn which was directly on the beach. Not a bad hotel but Personally i prefer Clearwater. Better beach and more to do.

Yeh - agreed with all everyone has said. Not easy to park - unless you to go Ron Jons which is great and you will be spoilt for choice - you can park in their car park but the pier car park always seems to be choc a bloc.

Surely the point of going to Cocoa [u]Beach is to go to the beach. You know where the sea is with sand and waves - that sort of thing.

If you want other things to do, aren't there are lots theme parks and shops in the Orlando area?

The thing I would recommend most is the wonderful seafood restaurant that is just over the bridge coming towards Cocoa Beach (there were cranes etc doing work on the right hand side when we were there in May) As you reach land on the right, signal right and its the restaurant on the jetty - wish I could remember the name! Serves the best seafood I have eaten in Florida, lovely atmosphere and we tend to sit at a table on the jetty watching the wildlife in the water. Last time we were there - a beautiful manatee with her new born baby gracefully skimming the water - well worth a visit!
