View Full Version : Digital Camcorders
Anyone know of a decent shop in Orlando that sells them, Better still
if they have a website. Im ready to buy one and the prices ive found
in the UK are really good. Just wondered if its worth waiting till
we are there in July
Chris
I went to 2 doors up from the indoor flee market on the opposite side of the road from 'Old Town@ on the 192. Great choice and very good discounts provided you haggle. Good fun. I save over 60% on a wide angle lense compared to Jessops.
Thanks George, do they do camcorders there ??
They do all camera, camcorders, Digital......the lot
As well as electrical goods.Well worth the visit. The kids can go round the flee market next door and the you can take them over the road to Old town for the go carts. If you go down on a saturday evening you can the catch the custom/vintage car parade. Great night out.<blockquote id="quote" class="ffs">quote:Originally posted by chrisj

Hi Chris,
near us in rotonda is a "circuit city"; i believe its a chain and some one else can let you know if theres 1 in orlando.
Anyway in march i bought a sony trv33 digital camcorder for $550-00; cost in the uk about £600-00
Also got a toshiba laptop for $950-00; saw yesterday a lesser spec toshiba in pc world for £975-00
worth waiting till july i think
regards
andrew
:D
Cheers,
will pop there if I havent got one before we go
Its the same advice for digital camcorders as has been dispensed for digital cameras. Beware of deals that look too good to be true !!
Check out average retail prices at :
www.bestbuy.com (Shop on Orange Blossom Trail)
www.ritzcameras.com (Shop in Florida Mall)
We bought one for an uncle from Costco. It was cheap and any problems could be dealt with at a Costco in the UK.
We bought ours from wolfe camreas ib belz but the shop has changed hand since and is called ritz.
Becarful not to by a ntsc one if you do not have compatble equipment in the uk, most stores do have a stock of PAL cameras though.
Ritz Cameras absorbed Wolf a few years ago, but took ages getting rid of the extra shops. There's still a Wolf Cameras website, which has the same content as Ritz, but is all black !
Think ive found a decent uk site that gives a great price for what I want.
Been looking at replacing the old digital camera and found that prices in the UK have plummeted recently.
I was looking at the Minolta Dimage A2 that can be bought here for around £500 but is $1100 in Ritz Cameras in the US !
If its the same for camcorders, it'll make a change to see Americans travelling over here for electrical goods !!!
Thats what ive found, here the prices are starting to beat the USA for once
Ive found the same, plus if you get it here you wont need to come home through the red channel at the airport and have to pay the duty on the goods which would make them more expensive.
ordered mine, was delivered today, retail £700 got for shade under £400 :D
now just need to get a digital SLR that my existing lenses fit, so far they are approx
40% cheaper in USA, so wil buy while out there
what make of slr do you have Chris, we have the Canon and the cheapest we found was the 'rebel' at $950 with all the features of the EOS 500.
We didn't buy as we are out there again later this year and they will probly be cheaper then:D
ive got 2 cannon eos 650's
You can get a Canon 300D (body only) for around £599 from www.sevendayshop.co.uk.
Its a very good digital SLR that should take most Canon lenses.
Cheers, I use that site a lot for memory cards etc
I found that all the camera shops in orlando a rip off.None of them display any prices and just want to haggle.Do some homework to find which model you want, then go and buy it a lot cheaper at Walmarts. The assistant on the camera dept laughed and shook his head when i told him
i went to a camera shop to buy a digital camera!!I bought a Sony P92 for $320, over here it's about £280. Good luck.

I'll tell you one place not to go. It is a camera & gift shop at the junction of Sand Lake Road & I-Drive (cannot remember the name). The guy there is an out and out cheat and after narrowly avoiding being ripped off, we were told a couple of horror stories about that shop by reliable locals.
