Hi All! Has anyone been to the Warbirds museum? My DH loves aviation and history so now my 11yr old DS does too. Should I make it a boys day out and the girls and baby stay by the pool or is there something to see for everyone.
Thanks!!

Which one are you thinking of - the Tom Reilly one at Kissimmee Airport (very good tour and well recommended by me) or the Fantasy of Flight museum near Lakeland?

The Tom Reilly one is at Kissimmee airport. They specialise in restoring old warbirds to flight status and have regular tours round their hangars where a very experienced guide points out all the points of interest and shows you some lovely old aircraft - we go every year and you can see how they are progressing with their projects from year to year - it's fascinating.

Fantasy Of Flight in more a static museum of aircraft with lots of variety and plenty of interest to see. If you search on 'fantasy of flight' using the Search link at the top of this page, there are quite a few threads about it.

Out of the two I prefer Tom Reilly's as I am a bit spoilt by the Imperial War Museum at Duxord, UK and Royal Air Force Musuem at Cosford, UK which both have a LOT more aircraft that Fantasy Of Flight and a lot more variety of aircraft too. If you have not been to these UK ones then Fantasy Of Flight would be great [msnsmile2].

Thanks so much. I know we will probably end up doing both. When we went to Washington DC we spent 3 days at the Air and Space museum and 1 day to cram in the rest.:) I will make sure we go to Disney first before any kind of aviation museum.
Thanks again

I have very fond memories of the one in Washington DC - I was taken by my parents when I was about 15 and they could not get me out of the place - I'd have happily spent all vacation in there [msnwink].

Warbirds is certainly worth a visit, their flight experience is fantastic. That's me in the front seat pulling this loop. Mission Space is nothing compared to this!
