We will be staying at Creekside and have been told that the free local calls covers a 'small local area'. Can anyone please tell me how far this area is likely to extend to, and if it is likely to include our dial-up to access4free, which we intend to use while we are there.

Many thanks.

I'm sure someone will correct me on this but my understanding is that it depends on the network provider and it means you may only get free calls within a few blocks. Can you check with the villa owner or MC ?

There are lots of local numbers provided by access4free and I've never heard of anyone yet not being able to locate and use at least one of them.

Access4free does not cover some of the gulf coast such as Cape Haze and Englewood but does cover the Orlando area well so you should be fine:)

Dear PoohFan,

[This answer assumes that the supplier is Sprint, which is the main players in this area.]

It is not easy. Basically, the local call area covers the Kissimmee and West Kissimmee phone areas on both 407 and 321 exchanges. It is the second three numbers which determines which are free and you need to look these up each time to be sure.

There is no easy way of doing this other than looking them up in the front of the phone book. (I tried to call the operator once, but it is probably easier to get through to Elvis.)

Calls to most other 407 and 321 numbers are 25 cents, so life is probably a bit short to do a look up every time. Unfortunately, calls to some 407 and 321 numbers (like those to north of Orlando) are classed as toll numbers and are quite expensive. You can get call blocks put on to stop out of Kissimmee and out of Orlando numbers, but Sprint, the local operator, charge for each of these blocks (and for every other block), so it all mounts up.

Most Internet services will, I think, indicate whether dial-up 407 numbers are Kissimmee or Orlando, so you should be able to spot the free ones.

Actually it's very easy - if you're staying in a rental home there will be blocks so you will only be able to connect to a free number, so if it connects it's a local free number.

Thank you all for your replies.

We will contact the management company when we arrive to clarify the situation. Also, we will be taking a list of contact numbers for access4free, so hopefully one of them will work.

Going out on Tuesday - can't wait to get there now to see what resales are available. Hope we don't come back empty handed!
