I have a villa booked from 13/05/04 to 27/05/04 and needed to contact the owner with a simple query so accessed his website.

There is a message on the homepage saying 'This villa has recently been sold, no bookings will be taken after 5th April 2004'.

I know from looking at his calendar that there are bookings right up to 30th September 2004.

Where do i stand with the new owners?

Who refunds my security deposit which was paid in sterling and must they honour my booking.

The owner would appear to be in the states at the moment tying up the sale so i am not able to speak to him and he hasn't as yet replied to my e-mail.

No, i found the villa on FrvBo and was redirected to the owners own website.

This all depends upon the new owners, and whether they have made an agreement that they will honour the existing bookings, although sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the new owner is quite within their rights to cancel all bookings, in which case you would have your deposit returned, as all of this gets passed on to the new owners upon closing. Try not to worry until you hear from the ex-owner you booked with, I know it's hard but most short-term rental properties get bought as going concern's so I would say the chacnes are quite high that your holiday is safe.

Keep us posted, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Then you really need to check the terms and conditions and speak to the owner, usually when an owner sells they make it a condition of sale that all bookings are honoured - however your contract is with the person you booked through so if the sale has gone through before your holiday dates they should be asking you to sign a new contract with the new owner.

Do u not have a contact telephone no or email for the owner to contact them and see what is happening or maybe contact FrvBo and see if they have a contact details for the owner

Thanks to everyone for their replies.

Have managed to get through to the owners mobile phone and he has confirmed that our booking is unaffected as he has arranged for the sale to be completed on 27th May to coincide with our departure.
