On Tuesday, 27th April, we will be in MK and will stay on for the Spectromagic Parade and 'Wishes' Fireworks show afterwards. Since we will all be tired after a long day and will have seniors in tow, I want to choose a spot that is good for both events, rather than move between them. I would be grateful for any advice on this.
I always watch Spectromagic (and indeed the afternoon parade) in Frontierland - in front of Goofy's Country Dancing Jamboree - there are some rocking chairs there (if you are lucky enough to get there when they are available) and some low walls, just right for sitting on! It is not usually crowded and small children and normally stand right by the rope. There are also some steps, so those wishing to film the parade and get up a little higher than everyone else.
Now that they have removed the large trees in front of the castle, in the middle of Main Street just where the road divides to go round the circle is my preferred spot for Wishes.
As you will have children and elderly people with you, it would probably be best for you to find a spot at the end of Main Street and stay there for both - depends on the time of the shows on the day you are there - but it does save you having to move after Spectromagic. However, you will have to be there fairly early to stake your claim on a decent spot!!
Have to agree with Claire about Spectromagic. It finishes in Frontierland (opposite way round from the daytime parade) so you get the build up and then it sweeps around the corner heading off to Splash Mountain. There's nothing to obscure the view (apart from other people) and I've never been unable to find a good vantage point. Unfortunately, its not such a good place to stay and watch the fireworks.
The best place to watch the fireworks is in front of the Castle, at the top of Main Street. We watched them from the side once (not Wishes) and were shocked to see how far away the fireworks actually are ! We've not seen Wishes, but presume that it makes use of music and the castle as the others did.
You're in the same boat as us with seniors as they may want to sit down and watch (one of our group isn't too mobile), but they'll not see much from the benches as most people will be standing in front of them. Fortunately as the fireworks take place in the sky and around the raised castle, if they're OK standing, then anywhere around the front is good.
Hope this is of use.

Thanks both of you. On Tuesday, 27th April, there is only one Spectromagic Parade at 8:30pm, followed by the Wishes show. I guess we will have to find a spot at the head of the main street and hope for the best. Fortunately, our car will be valet parked at the Contemporary Resort and so we can dodge most of the humongous returning crowd.
Nostromo,
I watched both the parade and wishes from outside the Station at the top of Main street.
Both were great, well great is obviously too shallow a word to use here, but you get the picture.
We had great views of both, and not being any further in the park meant we managed to get out before the other million behind us:D

I too watched the parade and the fireworks from the station at xmas! Parade was wonderful, think I posted some pictures before for people to get the picture! Have to say though, the fireworks were not ideal from there, you really need to be able to see them above the castle, and unless you book your spot early enough, you get pushed to the side where you can't see the castle! Or trampled on by all the japanese tourists taking pictures over you! It must be cheap to develop pictures over there ya'know!
In Feb we saw them both from the end of main street just before the circle in front of the castle. You need to be there for the full firework effect.Paul was about 30 feet to the right videoing and it was only when we watched the film we realised how much difference it makes. We'd decided it was too difficult to try to meet up so had arranged to meet at the car.

After looking at all the opinions, I have booked a priority seating table at Tony's Town Square restaurant in MK for that evening. The proprietor said that we could get an 'outside' table overlooking the square if we turned up 30 minutes early, offering excellent views of the Spectromagic Parade as we dined. Our booking is for 8:15pm and so we might actually finish by 9:30pm and go out into the square for the 'Wishes' fireworks show.
