Sanford In'l Airport Award

For those of you flying to Sanford International Airport, I thought I'd just share this with you:

'Thomas Cook Airlines has given Sanford International Airport an award as 'Best Overseas Airport Operation'.

Comforting for those flying in and out of Sanford.

A survey for Orlando International has shown, that non-us guests flying into the airport can expect an approximate 46 mins from landing to exiting the airport, thats clearing immigration, collecting bags, clearing customs, dropping bags, clearing security, collecting bags again.....hmmm when you in the last row of a 747 with another 3 747's landing in front of you I doubt 46 mins is that acurate[msntongue]

I don't know anything about Sanford. Can you fly direct from London to Sanford?

Hi Matt,

I've flown into Sandford a few times and to be honest if everything goes according to plan 45 mins is probably about right. However last time we flew there with Airtours we had premium seats which is supposed to include priority baggage handling and our bags were last off the carousel, they then refused to accept that we had upgraded our car in the UK (despite having all the relevent paper work) and it took nearly an hour of arguing and several call to Airtours in the UK before we got things sorted. Time from landing to leaving the airport over 2 hours result the Greenway in rush hour, time from airport to villa 2 hours 40 mins instead of the usual 1 hour needless to say not impressed . But in fairness that was nothing to do with Sanford airport and a lot to do with Airtours. We now fly to Orlando international with Virgin.

P.S flying out of Sanford a bit of a pain, fewer facilities very limited shopping.

Jules, sorry, I went off of Sanford and onto Orlando Int'l regarding the 45minute thing.

Andrea, nearly, if not all, charter flights out of the UK fly into Sanford rather than Orlando. I think only Virgin and BA use Orlando Int'l, and I'm not sure but Britannia might as well, I'm sure someone will put me straight on that one if its not accurate.

Sorry Matt,

Reading too fast. Our record for landing to villa from Orlando international is 55mins. We were staying in bunaventura lakes which is close to MCO but even so I thought that was pretty impressive considering double baggage collection monorail etc and it was August so the airport was very busy. I doubt we would manage that now with the extra security checks but i'd rather have the checks and feel safe and arrive a little later.
