Hi Joanie

Not sure if anything special is planned, Disney's Web Site usually carry's a list of Special Events etc, so you might want to check there.

I would say that when we were there a few years ago on the 4th of July, there seemed to be just the ususal Fireworks etc, but the parks were busy.

We are going to be out on July 4th and have decided to avoid Disney. We're going to give IOA and Citywalk a try - but nobody seems to be saying there's anything special going on. We've booked a restaurant for the evening already - as I expect this would be difficult to do on the day.

Just had to reply Joanie, we fly out on the 23rd June and this will be our 3rd time in Florida on the 4th July and I've got to say we've never noticed anything different! No big celebrations or anything different but we are on the look out for something different. I imagine there will be a party in a park somewhere away from the Disney experience so we are on the look out too. Will let you know what I find. Karen [:I]

There is usually a big event on July 4th that many locals attend at Lake Toho.

We will be in Orlando on July 4th (but not until 2005!) We have never been there at this time of year so where are the places to avoid, and the best places to go that will be less crowded. Would Sea World be quieter than Disney[?]

Hi Ana,

We spent the evening of July 4th in Universal studios in 2000. The fireworks were absolutely fabulous!! They ran an identical fireworks display in IOA that ran simultaneously so that which ever park you were in you would see the same display. This was fantastic until everyone tried to leave at exactly the same time NIGHTMARE!!!!

I don't know if this was a special event because of the millenium but we all swore that if we ever did it again we would wait in the park until the crowds had cleared before we tried to leave. So many people crowded together in that heat and humidity is not something I would recommend.

Getting out of the park it's self was not too bad but when everyone met in city walk on the way to the car park it was unbearable.

I would avoid Magic Kingdom on July 4th. We went one year, there was no special celebrations, in fact it was not mentioned anywhere we went, but it was unbelievably busy, an absolute nightmare, I would never go again on this day.
