We went to the BBQ night at Fort Wilderness in 1995 on an organised trip with Airtours and had a great night out with the all you can eat and drink buffet and characters dancing etc.
It was our first time in Florida and we were staying in a villa booked through airtours at Westridge on US27, with my parents and my sister, brother in law and their 2 children who had all been to Florida before. As we were in a villa, for any nightime trips we booked (there were 3, BBQ, Pleasure Island and Church Street) we had to make our own way to and from the 1st hotel on the 192 which was a pest.

The 5 times we have been since we have always booked flights and villas independently as we have realised the cost savings and there hasn't always been the whole clan on the trip. We therefore have not been on nightime trips (bar using kissimmee checker cabs death trap cab 1 year to get to pleasure island) but have also never seen the Mickeys backyard BBQ trip mentioned.

As we are taking our daughter for the 1st time this year i sent an e-mail to Disney regarding the BBQ night and obviously discovered that it still operates, but have been unable to find anything anywhere regarding transportation. Taxi firms do not seem to respond to e-mailed enquiries, the kissimmee st cloud visitors bureau were no help and Thomas Cook in the UK don't seem to know what trips their representatives in the US are selling (which as i am entitled to 10% discount for having premium air seats i find a little odd).

Anyhow, does anyone know of any organised trips or decent reasonably priced taxi firms that will take me from Windward Cay to Fort Wilderness for Mickys Backyard BBQ night?

Aslo, Disney very kindly told me the cost but did not offer information about how to actually buy tickets for the BBQ, so help in that direction would also be appreciated.:)

Call (407) WDW-DINE (939-3463) for Disney Dining reservations

We're thinking of doing the Backyard BBQ this year. Also if you look on the Disney website, you can do a dining search to show you what's available.
