We found this on our last visit - it's at the junction 27 (68 on the new numbering I-4 system) of the I-4 as you go towards Premium Outlets. There was a hugh queue each time we went and it took us three visits before we decided to stick it out and see what all the fuss was for.

Very well worth the wait and we will be going back however long the wait - we had our starter of 'onion rings' outside by the bar with wonderful live musical entertainment followed by the main meal inside.

I had a West Indian curry and it made up for not having found a decent Indian in Florida yet. It was very entertaining, good food and reasonable value.

By the way one portion of onion rings will easily serve four of you - there were only two of us and Cath was so full she went for a chicken salad as her main course after that.

Hope to hear from others who have been for further comment.

Geoff, sounds good. Is it okay to take the children - or is it a 'grown-ups' kind of place?

We went after 9 p.m. each time and very few children - they might find it a little to adult.

I have had a look on the web and found the web site for you so you can take a look for yourself - http://www.bahamabreeze.com/tour.html
I have also found they have a second venue in Orlando on I-Drive that I didn't know about.

Thanks for that Geoff, we are planning to take some friends out while we are there, babysitters are already arranged!! So this looks like the venue

I have just been looking at the menu and now I can't wait till we get back over their in September.

Just bear in mind you will have a wait but I for one thinks it's worth it. Post a response when you have been. Also tried a pint of their 'Aruba Red' beer - just like real ale back in the UK and a change from Bud everywhere. I do like a pint with my dinner.

Geoff - If theres such a long wait all the time, does this mean you cannot pre-book I take it??

Geoff

Yes - we tried and they said it was first come first served. We are generally late eaters on holiday so I don't know what it is like at 7 p.m. or so on - maybe better.

How was the prices? Bonnie

Geoff
11-06-2002, 23:27
Bonnie,

Not the cheapest but neither were they over dear. There were only the two of us and I suppose that it compares with Outback in price. One thing that they did allow was that you could order a half portion.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Geoff.....we are going in October so maybe we will try it. Always looking for someplace new. Bonnie

I think we might give this a whirl - always looking for somewhere to eat after a hard day's shopping!

And the food at the POM is the pits!

I like the sound of the curry - as you say, still to find a good one!

Fiona - not to labour a point I have copied the curry off themenu to wet your appitite.

Coconut Curry Chicken with onions, potatoes and sweet peppers over white rice and topped with coconut, raisins, pineapple and cashews.

We will be out in September as I said and I can't wait. You sound like you should vacation with my wife - I like Home Depot, Lowes and such yet we have to spend days at Premium Outlet Mall, Florida Mall, Beltz etc. (just can't wait). Thank goodness this time I am converting the double garage into a games room - it gives me a proper excuse to spend all day in 'my' shops.

Anyway I always buy the food so I get to choose although to be fair I have never had a complaint.

Enjoy your next vist, find this thread and add your comments when you have been.

I shall!

Funnily enough we are converting our garage to a games room!

And Chris does all the food shopping while in Florida - can't get him near the shops here!!!!

Home Depot is also his favourite attraction..........although golf probably comes first

I can't eat very hot-as in chili -type meals-but that coconut curry sounds lovely. Is it mild like a malaysian do you know?
My hubby would love Bahama Breeze-but we tend to eat at these places rarely on account of hot spicy meals not agreeing with me.
Re-your garage conversion. It may be a good idea to check with the building department to see if you need a permit. They are getting quite 'hot' about things like that. They say they are very helpful to people who consult them first, or have had the work done unpermitted, but if they come across work that's been done and needed a permit and haven't sought one-they will come down like a ton of bricks-if you pardon the awful pun.
It may be you are not altering anything structurally ( changes in the electrics come under that category) and in that case you shouldn't need a permit but you may want to check for yourself.

yes this place is good. Huge protions no need for starters. I too had the curry but it was awful and tasted like boil in the bag food. I picked out the chicken and left the rest. The waiter asked what was wrong and I just said that it was too my taste. They took that and our starters (coconut onion rings) of the bill. Great service.

For those who like to venture farther afield to eat, there is a lovely Bahama Breeze in a beautiful waterfront location en route to Clearwater. Heading out of Tampa towards Clearwater, it is on your right just as you go onto the first causeway across Tampa Bay. There is a little beach and they hire out jet skis. You can eat your starter outside on the deck with a fabulouus view of the water and the jet skiers and when we were there there was a reggae band playing. Be careful of the cocktails though. We asked for beers and the waiter did push us to "try something new" and "you cant come to BB without trying our special cocktail" Anyway we did and I liked it but hubbie said it was a chick drink and sickly sweet and they were definately not cheap!!

We went in October to the I-Drive one with the two kids and thought the meals were fantastic. Got there around 7.00pm and went straight in. Stuart had the paella (monster portion but he managed to eat it all:D) and I had the dish of the day which was some strange named fish on a bed of mash with mango dressing - absolutely gorgeous! The kids had something off the childrens menu which they enjoyed plus a milkshake (the thickest and tastiest we have tried in a long time) and a 'cocktail' of raspberries, orange and mango blended into a drink - I swapped my coke for this as it Jamie didn't like it - but I loved it.

We didn't get a chance to go again when we were out in April, but will be top of our list to visit in October this year.

We were there in February. It was our second visit to BB. Last time we went for dinner but they have now started opening for lunch and we gave that a try. It was very good and quite quiet. I think they were trying out the lunch thing so I don't know whether they are doing that over summer.

We got home on the 6th of June and while we were away we made our usual treck to BB - it was and is great. My cousin was across at the same time as us and they have not been before, but will definitley go again !

Hubby starter - Habanero Wings Jumbo spicy chicken wings crisply fried and tossed in habanero sauce
My starter - Coconut Prawns Marinated in Coco Lopez and crisp-fried with citrus mustard sauce
Cousin Main - Center-Cut Filet Mignon Oak-grilled with garlic herb mashed potatoes and fresh asparagus
Hubby main - Seafood Paella Shrimp, sea scallops, mussels, fresh fish, Spanish sausage and chicken with saffron scented rice & vegetables
My main - Ancho Rubbed Chicken Breast Grilled with fresh asparagus, crisp yucca and roasted pepper sauce

We had lots leftover, so they boxed it all up and we had what was left for lunch the following day.

You can't book, but you can ring ahead and they will put your name on the list, we did this and were told there was about an hour and a half wait time, when we arrived we were given a bleeper and only had to wait about 30 minutes before our table was ready.

I would also recommend the following two cocktails, providing you aren't driving that is !

Bahamarita, frozen margarita with Cuervo Gold and real kiwi, mango and strawberry ices.

Bahama Mama Fresh squeezed orange juice, pinapple juice, Banana Liqueur, Malibu and Myers's Original Dark Rum.

It is very atmospheric and a great night out - definitley worth the wait !

Well CDV, if you go to the one on I Drive you can always get your little bleeper thing and then take a walk up to Pointe Orlando for a quick spot of retail therapy and walk back again. By which time your table should be ready!!:D

We visited it both in Feb and May. We always go outside-far too cold inside-and it never disappoints.

We always order about 6 starters for 4 of us-as you get loads -and we can all have a bit of each others.

Their pina colada bread and butter pudding is to die for.

Tracy

That pudding sounds great Orlandobabe - I think I will need to re-tink what I order next time so I have room for a pudding !

I enjoyed both BB's the same. Kids also wamted to go back. They do have a kids menu and we didnt find any of the meals too expensive. We also loved their starter Cuban bread, (one portion enough for all 4 of us!) and their Key Lime pie.

we tried BB for the first time at Clearwater just before we checked in at Tampa airport last week. We were really impressed and loved the food. We found it to be very reasonable cost wise and will certainly visit regularly from now on:)

We went a couple of nights ago and to be honest were a bit disappointed. We knew there would be the hour wait, persuaded Mr CDV it would be ok. Had a couple of cocktails whilst waiting, they were yummy. The food (coconut and lime shrimp followed by Filet Mignon) and atmosphere was no different to a dozen other restuarants we have been to. Glad we were not sitting outside as it was lashing, although we asked to sit inside as we guessed it would rain. People were eating their dinner with their brollies up!!!!

Think it would be good for large parties. Glad we have been but probably will not go back. Cafe TU TU Tango is next on the list, I hear that is good.

Daniel,

We arrived at 6 pm and still had to wait an hour!! Agree the cocktails were good. Problem is there is always a conference in town and it is near the centre. Full of Beauty industry girlies getting piddled the night we went!!!!:D

This was Sunday nights venue - we always visit the one near Premium Outlets and was on top form as ever. We were told wait would be 40 minutes so sat at bar with a drink and our onion starter and were called within 15. Had lovely pork chop and wife had a spicy chicken dish in lighter portions which is nice to see a restaurant prepared to serve. Full of locals so you can tell it's good - had a chat to a few and they all agreed they were regulars.

There are rumours of a NEW BB opening on 27 at Cajun Crossings.
I do hope it goes ahead - and of course will be filled with locals (forum members!!)

As the Premium Outlets is close you could always shop before you eat. I love the coconut shrimps and chicken & steak kabobs.[msntongue]

We tried to go to Bahama Breeze for my sons last night in Florida. Got there about 7:00pm, told there would be a TWO hour wait. We were very disapointed, and went to Pebbles instead. Glad we did, we had a great meal and a great time for my son and his girlfriend to remember. So much food we could not finish it, thank the lord for take away boxes[msnwink]
Will definitely be going back in the spring(?)

Personally I love Bahama Breeze, its ideal if you fancy something different from steak for a change. Their fish dishes are excellent & we love the coconut shrimp. I also love the atmosphere with the steel calypso band playing on the outdoor deck/bar. Will be great if there is one due to open at Cajuns Crossings. May see you in there Chris!! [beer]

BB is always a "Must do" on our list, we like the one on I drive, usually get there 7ish and don't have to wait too long. Always had a good meal.
