What are the rules of smoking in the theme parks, i have visited some threads that have been giving smokers a real bashing.
I know there are certain areas that you can smoke in , but where are they, are they well sighned? I am a considerate smoker and wouldn,t dream of lighting up in a restaurant but am i going to be made to feel uncomfortale for lighting up outide, in public.

There are smoking areas in the parks - they are well marked on the park guide maps and well signed too [msnsmile]

I really wish that there were no such 'smoking areas' in any non-smoking place. Seems like giving smokers an escape clause to poison themselves.

Let's not let this get into an anti-smoking thread.

I've seen lots of people smoking in non-smoking areas of the parks, often within sight of Disney employees who have done nothing about it.

But then its nothing new. It happens on the trains to and from work here too [xx(][xx(]

Hi Folks

Don't forget that all the restaurants are now no smoking.

We were at AK last Thursday and I spotted a no-smoking area.

It was well away from the rest of Joe Public-and all done rather discreetly which I thought was nice.

(I thought they were in a VIP area at first!)

Some of the parks are better signed than others. You really need a map, and even then you have to look closely. The give away is usually the ashtray bins. Find one of these and you're safe. Epcot is the easiest place to find the smoking areas because it is also the most open of the Disney parks.

Any cast member in any of the parks should be able to direct you to the nearest smoking area ~ just ask.

Thanks for all your tips, i have been considering trying to give up and this may be an ideal oppertunity. I know ill have to go without a ciggerette for 9 hours on the plane and my husband will not appreciate the fact that i may want to nip off and stop at a designated smoking area. So ime going to try from today to give up, i have a month before we go and i know that it will be a great feeling to be able to get on that plane noing i wont need one. I have done it before for 7 years so i know it can be done but this holiday may make a nother dream come true.

Wish me luck Marv

Good Luck Marv - You CAN do it - and think of all the money you'll save and therefore have more to spend in Florida;)...not to mention how much better you'll feel:)

I have been in the parks on a few occasions when cast members have enforced the no smoking policy. As a non smoker I was glad that they did.

Mary

One of my friends gave up smoking just before we went to Florida last time as she was staying in the same villa as us and our children.

She did just what Caroline suggested and spent the extra money she saved on herself in Florida!

Good luck!

Holiday in Florida :D - Buy Cigerettes :(. I know which I would choose, and seeing how expensive they are you would soon save enough for another Florida trip. Good Luck Marv and enjoy the holiday.

When I advice my patients to stop smoking, I always add "Think of the money you can save!" For a 20-cigarette a day smoker (ugh!) at £4 a day, it will be £120 a month and £1440 per year. More than enough for one person to have a good Orlando break.

Thanks for the math lesson.

As you know smokers are unable to add up how much they spend and rely on non-smokers to remind them!

With respect, I do however feel that in the interests of accuracy I must point out that £4 per day times 365 days is actually £1460.

You're welcome. Actually it was intended to be a friendly reminder on basic concern on other people's (including kids) feeligs, but as you point out yourself, smokers tend to forget these things.[8D][8D]

I think you should all remember that us smokers 'have feelings' too!![}:)]
