Hi,

Do we need a car if we are staying on international drive (ie can we get to the parks without one) and how far is ID from Orlando airport (are there buses/trains etc)

First time to Florida and want to stay for a few nights in Orlando and then down to Clearwater for the remainder of the holiday?

Does anyone know of a good but cheap realiable travel agent that can tailor make packages to suit?

SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!!

Hi Rob,

You can do little wrong than the flights and car prices through this site. Fill out a form from the menu at the top of each page.
As for accommodation you could try a villa.
If not a villa then I've found that expedia.co.uk is pretty good for hotels on International Drive and Clearwater.

Whilst most hotels do a free shuttle to the various parks I would say a car is almost essential for your requirements.
Getting from the airport, to the parks and then on to Clearwater would be soooo much easier with your own transport...oh and getting the numerous shopping bags back to your hotel is a lot easier with a car.:D

Buses and trains?? No not really. There is the trolley bus up and down I Drove and Golynx run a limted bus service. Taxi from the airport is your best bet. If it is Orlando Int, it isnt far. You can probably manage without acar in Orlando but getting to and from the Gulf --- you really need a car.

Hi Rob,

To be honest, everyone is different but I would not stay on I Drive. You will miss so much of the real Disney area as I Drive is so commercialised. Its great to visit though.

Have you considered a villa?

Have one week in the disney area and one week out at Clearwater. That way you can do the parks more leisurely as it is very tiring and then come back to a beautiful villa with your own pool, they usually work out cheaper too! A car is must really as everything is so spread out.

Happy holidays!

Hi rob and welcome
I've stayed on the drive a few times , and though I don't think it's quite as nice as it used to be , it's still a great base.As for tailor made you cuold do your own with a few phone calls .
there are plenty of links on this site , or you could try Travelcity,or Direct Holidays if you're not travelling in school holidays you should pick up a bargain.
If you're doing a 2 center i'd definitley opt for a car, you should be able to get one for about £240 for 2 wks fully insured
You don't say how many are in your party but if you end up having to book 2 hotel rooms , it would probably make more sense to book a villa.
have a great hol
