View Full Version : Canadian Debit Card
Does anyone know if you can use an Canadian Debit Card to withdraw from an American Bank Account in Canada while in Florida and is there anyone that would know if there are any machines around the 9000 block of International Drive Orlando. thanks for the help.
I would have thought they were the same as English debit cards which you can use all over
the world.
What I would suggest is ask your bank to make sure before you go

We tried to use our TSB debit card at a resort ATM and it didn't recognise our account, i would strongly recommend you have more than one form of resource. We always take travellers cheques and currency and at least one visa card for emergencies.
Nationwide Debit card works worldwide, Thats why we got one and theres no commission
when you take money out

Basically so long as they show ether the Maestro or Cirrus logo they should be accepted
I have personal being using our Royal Bank of Scotland Cirrus card for over five years in Florida

Our VISA debit in theory works worlwide too - the only problem is the vendors computers have to communicate with your bank in the UK to get authorisation and sometimes they cannot get through and your card comes back as unauthorised. This happens to us regularly in Publix but not in Wal-Mart.
It's always advisable to have a backup credit card as these work well at every place.
We didnt have a problem, but then Im an honest looking chap :D
But as John/Sarah says they need to connect back to the Uk and if the lines are busy then
you will get the unauthorised as a matter of course
