Has anyone rented a car from sky-tours.com

They seem good value as they quote in dollars. They include CDW and SLI ( for us europeans)and seem to use Alamo.

Any comments would be appreciated

Didn't you post this on another thread yesterday?

Yes,

Well spotted. But I got no reply so I thought I would ask again. Did I do something wrong?

Nothing wrong at all...it's a good question. Personally I have never heard of them and don't see them much on the search engines for car hire terms.

I'm not sure if I am missing something here, but their rates are not very good. For example, they will do a 7 seater for $65 a day, so $455 per week. Add to that SLI which is $60 makes a total of $515 for the week. This equates to about £290 per week.

Our own 7 seater (www.uscarhire.co.uk) rate is £199 per week fully inclusive which is way cheaper.

I'm also not convinced what exactly they include in the way of insurance - you may end up having to pay for compulsory insurance when you arrive to pick your car up. Our's is fully inclusive with nothing extra to pay at all.

Also, with Dollar we include a second driver free of charge - they do not appear to do this.

Thanks.

You had me worried there for a moment. This is such a good site I don't want to upset anyone.

I hope someone who knows about these things can check it out and tell me I am wrong but I have just got a quote on line with them and as they quote in dollars the price is very cheap. I am always a bit carefull of a TOO good a deal.

I am going out at Xmas and I have asked for a quote for a full size 4 door with CDW, SLI and all taxes paid from Dec 15th 2004 to 2nd Jan 2005 and with 1 driver ( pay local for any more) it comes to US$679.20 @ 1.8 = £377. That's 18 days hire..

Same quote with US Car Hire is £474.00 all be it with a tank of petrol and 2 drivers. That's £96 less or 20%..!

Am I missing something as you guy's do it all the time and I'm a newbie.

This is too cheap. I know for a fac as I used to deal wholesale with car hire and these prices are below cost. I would alos be very careful about dealing with any company who do not put a contact phone number on their site (unless I just cannot find it).

Hi Martin

Are you taking into account that it's priced in dollars. If you look at the Dollar.com web site although without the EU insurance and stuff, it is $583 for the same period. The rate £ is the key at the moment I think.

But, if it sounds to good to be true, it usually is.

Hear what you say about the phone number.

I have e mailed them to see what response I get. Any doubts I will use floridahire. Don't want to go all that way and find any nasty surprises!

Thanks

Craig,
I think you'll find you have to catch a courtesy bus as Miami International does not have any car hire firms 'on-airport'[msnwink]

Thanks Kevin

I'm flying to Miami in october and i will probably be booking a car with skycars.com. They offer a good deal for under 25's with budget where they don't charge the under-age excess and i can get a compact for £149 for a week. For over 25's I don't think they are really any cheaper, and if it wasn't for my age i would have booked through this site.
