Best time to book a hire car for your Holiday?

Hi All.

Just wondering if booking a car is likely to be more expensive the nearer you book to your departure date?
Is it best to book a car as soon as you know your dates or book pretty close to when you are heading off?

These days the prices can go up and down like a yo-yo. It's demand driven and the car rental companies will adjust prices sometimes daily based on number of quotes and bookings for certain dates.

There is not really a correlation between the price and how far off the rental dates are.

Yeh, That's kinda the feeling I was getting from it. I have noticed it going up and down when I have popped on to have a little glance every now and then. Thought it was just me :-)
