Virgin have announced that their Little Red flights from UK regional airports to London will end at various dates in 2015. I don't know how many used it to connect to Florida flights but it seems they just can't make it pay.

We used it from Aberdeen to connect with Heathrow this month and both flights were full each way. We also used them in June to connect to Manchester and again they were full. So not sure what the real story is!!!!
I know they're doing more flights to LV and Orlando from Glasgow. So maybe more money in long haul than short

Virgin introduced the service hoping that it would encourage more regional customers to use their London intenational routes. It seems that most passengers used it just as a domestic service which meant it was actually running at a significant loss.
