For anyone using Three mobile on pay monthly you can use your phone for free in the USA and 11 other countries. When I say free it obviously falls under your monthly allowance. This includes data. I have used mine in France and Norway and had no problems. 3g is supposed to be slower but I had no problem watching youtube, downloading etc etc. Certainly worth considering if you are a regular traveller.

Used mine in Dublin a couple of months ago with no problems at all. 3G was fine and the real bonus was it did not cost me a penny :).

I'll be using it in Florida in a couple of months. The guys in our local Three shop were telling me it's free to call the UK but if you call a local number then you get charged. They used a phrase "like UK dialling" or something similar to explain this (i.e. you get charged for calls as if you are in the UK).

Used ours in Jan/Feb on our visit there - calls and 3G. Just treat it like you are in the UK so only call UK numbers. Beware of calling Isle of Man mobile numbers (and a few others). We thought the number was a normal mobile until we saw the £40 bill for 30 mins!! There are restrictions (see their terms) if you're there for more than a couple of months and haven't actually used it in the UK during that time. Note that tethering doesn't work if your contract permits this.

does it work for uk to uk mobile numbers if they are both abroad, my daughter na son in law are both on 3 and as he is going to travel over a few days before her want to check that can still call as at home.and then when over they can still use them freely.

Worked for me and 3 other phones on the same network. You would only get charges if you called USA numbers. So as longs as it is a UK and within your call plan, no problem.

Make sure you call and have roaming turned on before you go (you can't do it within 30 days of a new contract). I read on another forum that one guy had to try two or three times before 'Feel at Home' was activated - the last being at the airport waiting to depart for Florida!

Great idea though, unless O2 do something similar, I'll be switching to Three when the iPhone 6 comes out.

I've just moved this to the Guest Area of the forums as it will be useful to all.
